ID renewal but expired visa

will i be able to renew or replace my ID if i claimed that i lost it even tho my visa expired?

depend on what state you are from.

I know that in california, if you have a social security number on file, you could renew your ID even if your visa expired.

it might work. Give it a try. I know that in some states, DMV people just take ITIN in lieu of SSN.

So you have ITIN on file with your license ? What state are you from ?

In RI, since the Real ID act, if the SSN doesn't match or ITIN, the police will pick you up at the DMV when your waiting for your picture to be taken.

i know in some states like Texas you can renew it online.

You need to have a SSN on file with the DMV already if you want to renew it online.

It's clear he didn't submit his SSN when he got his ID the first time.
By the way, they don't accept ITINs anyways.

When I went to the local DMV office in TX, the first thing they asked was proof of legal residence such as a visa, green card, or citizenship. SS card doesn't qualify as a proof legal residence, nor does an ITIN.
