Soooooooooo.... today while talking to some "average Americans," the subject of DREAM and its failure came up.. They told me it was clear to them DREAM was "Amnesty for the Mexicans." Of course, most of the people in this country think Mexican speaks for all Latinos. I am Mexican (like most of you) yet I don’t look Mexican, so out of anger I told those Americans my nationality, and it was like they suddenly lost all respect for me, they started to talk down on me, told me to go back to my country. I wasn’t offended, but I was about to punch them in the face. Dream failed partly due to racism.
We need to come out of the shadows and show how diverse our movement really is!
I know there's Dreamers from Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe, etc.. but every time I see activists fighting for the cause, they are almost always Hispanic.
I know the fear in wanting to tell friends and others the truth: being undocumented. The fear of being shunned. Nevertheless, there are many people who will support you, and understand you better if you tell them the truth. Trust me, I know. And those "friends" who stop talking to you after you tell them the truth: well screw them, they're not real friends to begin with. Some of my teachers know my situation, and they told me that even after all the obstacles, I’m a way better student than the native borns -i know a lot of you are too. Some teachers have even sent letters to Washington and became activist after I told them about the situation; they told me they didn’t care if I was undocumented, since I was one of the best students they’ve had.
We have to prove the racists wrong, show them how diverse the DREAMERS are. I know most of Dreamers are from Mexico, but still, we need to unite and fight. Enough with the racism. Enough with the phone calls and faxes, we have to take action. We need to organize. We need to fight.
ALL THE NATIONALITIES NEED TO COME OUT OF THE SHADOWS AND FIGHT FOR OUR CAUSE
What does “fight” mean? I will tell you phone calls and faxes are not enough… so we have to take it to the next level. I’m determined to fight, but I cannot do it by myself.
We need to stop with the unnecessary drama over the forum, it will not get us anywhere, but rather just turn us against one another, even if we’ve never met in person. One way or another, we’re all a big family over a million strong, and few will dare get in our path if all of us fight for our freedom. We need to come up with new strategies, we need to show our numbers, we need to be more determined than ever. Religious institutions, such as the Catholic Church, or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints have much influence over politicians, so getting the churches to have our back is a start, after all, aren’t so many of the Senators who voted against us conservative “Christians”? From there, we can come up with other strategies. DREAM is no longer an issue of immigration, but its about our civil rights. There are many institutions willing to support us. United we can.

Ohhh and btw… this website is for the true dreamers and supporters. Don’t troll around, and if you’re looking for a relationship, go to a dating website, not this forum. if you dont agree, go screw yourself and i will report any user trying to send me repugnant content.

I tell everyone I know about my situation. It's no big secret.

It's mainly Hispanic DREAMers fighting the fight, and it's probably because different cultures clash and other groups feel excluded. I think it's safe to say that in immigrant areas of places such as LA, different ethnic groups avoid each other and shun each other, and that's not helping bring any unity. In addition, there are racial tensions and different lifestyles. I know most of my Asian-American DREAMer friends wouldn't take a few days off school to go to DC demonstrations; I wouldn't either. Anyways, the CIR/DA fight will probably be pinned to Latinos until we win/lose.

Potosino, I agree with you 100%. There is a lot of ideas and plans we just need to set time frames for implementing ideas. There are a few idiots that get a kick out of writing that someones idea is stupid. But they have nothing to contribute, no ideas.
The only thing they have going in life is negative comments. Their energy is toxic to us and will be ignored. You know who you are.

The irony of those two statements. You sure are an internet crusader, aren't you?

What will it take to make you guys top arguing and to do something? WE'RE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER, and if you expect other people to do the fighting for you, then STFU! Stop the pessimism
EITHER WE ALL STAND TOGETHER, OR WE FAIL AGAIN LIKE WE HAVE FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS!
If we really want to get something done, all of us will have to take on some of the fight. There's over a million of us, and united and fighting, few can stop us.
