I'm 22, finishing college in the spring, and I'm thinking of going back to my home country.

What if I meet an American there and we get married? Do you think I can come back even with the 10 year ban?

Sucks that I don't have a boyfriend yet and I don't want a sham marriage for a green card.

Well, as soon as you leave you'll get a 10 year ban. So if you met a USC overseas and got married, I'm guessing you'd have to wait 10 years before they could petition you.

that's kind of dumb?? no offense....why cant you just find one here? why bother going back and getting a ten year ban? i mean you're only 22.. i say stay and give the Obama administration its last two years.... and besides you're planning on going back to your country anyways, so what's there to lose? might as well wait....

100% agree with you....there is nothing to loose if you wait, but if you leave the country you'll get baned for 10 yrs.. Who know DA might paas with tough requirement and border security under republicans. If i am not mistaking 1986 CIR paased by republicans under Bush administration and also 2007 senate passed CIR under republicans. I would just wait untill mircle things happen.

No offense taken. I see your point. Relationships aren't easy for me and I don't wanna use a guy for a green card. I'm just kinda depressed because my friends all expect me to go somewhere super far, and they keep on saying I'll find a job right out of college.

So I thought maybe if I go back to my home country, I won't be unemployed or stuck waiting tables...

*sigh* I don't know what to do after I graduate. Maybe I'll wait, maybe not. I hate Republicans.

well, its not like YOU ARE NOT going to find a good job or fulfill your goals in life. Its just that we're having a bit of a detour towards our goals in life. We just have to wait and see what happens, i know it may sound naive to say, but what can we really do? we just gotta hold on and be patient.

Look at you, you're doing so much more with your life than i am. You're almost graduating. Unlike me, im not even done with it and im 23 now. i had to get a job and help out the family. i mean i can go to a community college and start out from there but just like everyone else, illegal or legal, finance is a big issue.

so keep your head up. our time will come.

It'll be especially hard to show hardship if you met them overseas*. If they're already there, your case worker will be like "Well, you guys met there, why not live there together?"

* There are exceptions if you have children. A friend of the family had a 10 year ban even though she met and married a USC. They moved to Georgia (the country) to live together and had a child there. When they applied for the waiver, they made the argument that living in a war torn country is no place for a USC child :P
