You guys, lately I've been feeling really down. I feel like I have nothing to look forward anymore. I feel miserable, sad and confused and I don't know what to do. I am a new member btw and I see that some of you guys are very optimistic. How do you guys survive your days and get on with your lives? Also, I need your advise on something. I graduated high school in a state where they don't offer in-state tuition to undocumented students. So, I moved to a state where they offer in-state tuition. I've been attending college in that state for the last two years and I am paying international student tuition. Now I want to continue my education at university but I don't know if that's even possible for me. So my question is, can a student qualify for in-state tuition even though they didn't graduate high school in that state but graduated college and lived in that state for more than 2 years?

Thank u so much for helping. Your opinion mean a lot to me.

What state are you living in right now? Different states have different residency requirements for in-state tuition.

Hi, I am a new member too . To answer your question..states that offer in-state tuition to undocumented students require you to fill an affidavit. To qualify, the major requirement is that you must have attended high school for 3 years and obtain a diploma from that state. So no, you won't be able to qualify for in-state tuition even if you move to a state that offers in-state tuition. And even if you live at that other state for 2 years, I think you would need to prove your status to receive in-state tuition. Maybe someone can correct me if I am mistaken.

About coping with my status. I am miserable too, but I try to find things that I am grateful for everyday. Whether its joy from being able to try a new restaurant to buying something new. I think if you really can't help feeling miserable, maybe you should volunteer somewhere. Seeing the difference that you can make can maybe help you change your outlook on life.

Texas offers in-state tuition to anyone who's been residing in Texas for a year or more prior to enrolling http://www.admissions.txstate.edu/future/residency.html

Well, I understand that you need to fill out the affidavit. I live in Oregon btw. So what are my choices right now? Will I be able to go to University by paying international rate? or continuing my education is over? (that's it?) So happens to students who graduate high school in states that does not give in-state tuition? I just have nowhere to go.

So you may not qualify for in-state tuition after all if you go by these guidelines. I don't think that you will be unable to continue your education- you should be able to, it's just that it's going to be expensive.

I just feel optimistic because of my great ability to meet women. I don't think that the dream act will get passed, but since I did not enter illegally I can get married.

No, you don't qualify for in-state tuition if you didn't go to high school in that state.

It's definitely possible to go to a university. Search for scholarships, and work your butt off at a restaurant job. If you can't pay the full-time fees, I would do at least part-time schooling at the university. It's a slow timeline, but it's better than doing nothing.

Don't give up or feel depressed! You're still in school and who knows, Dream could pass by the time you graduate. Even if it doesn't, you still have a degree you can use in other country. Just don't give up on school all because of the price tag. State colleges are usually in the 15k range tuition. Come to California
