Never considered moving there because I don't know anyone, plus won't be able to get in state tuition. It will be too expensive to live there. It would have been nice if I lived and graduated in WA though. Life would be much more easier. I shouldn't complain much since CA dreamers have it better than AZ and other anti-immigrant states.

Ok guys. So I decided to make the move. I got accepted to a school in frisco. Now I was wondering on any tips. What about work, where to live, and what to do? Any help is appreciated!

I'm currently in SF right now. It's a great city. Offers you free health care, no kidding! The environment is great, the people here are awesome, and it's a good city overall.

However, the only big problem I have with it is that everything is too expensive. Housing is SUPER expensive and will take out a lot from your paycheck. A good one bedroom apartment is about 1,200+... A studio is at least 1000.

Owning a car here is a bad idea because they're milking drivers for money. So I never go out in the other cities in the Bay Area... But then again, there's no reason to because the city has everything you need.

Transportation is good, but not great. You can go anywhere in the city because the bus goes everywhere. However, the MTA's facing budget deficits that's just recently got better. But there are a lot of frustrations sometimes with light rail vehicles and delays.

Weather's not that great. It's cold most of the time.

After 15 years of SF, I'm moving out. It's really expensive and it's only gonna get worse.

That sucks. I knew that it was expensive but it sounds like it's worse than I thought. So, how hard is it to get a job to try and cover your costs?

Well, there are a few options... You could get a job as a dishwasher and maybe get $8-10 an hour. (minimum wage is at $9.92)

I don't think it's hard to find a job here at all because I've seen undocumented Mexicans at every restaurant I've been to. A crappy single room occupancy hotel is $725 for one person (a small room, one small bathroom, no kitchen, trash, water, electricity included). (downtown) Believe me, even CORPORATE LAWYERS and managers of restaurants live in SROs, alongside the near-homeless and sick poor people.

A nicer one bedroom at a nicer district is $1,200+ and rising. A studio near downtown is $1000... Public transportation is $60 or $70 a month for a MTA monthly pass. A good meal is about $7-15.

You could always try to find college students for roommates, but this isn't very stable because people move in and out frequently. They pay about $400+ if the rent is split evenly.

Factor in utilities, Internet, phone service, and TV subscriptions...

And if you drive, there are parking and meter fees all over the place, and if you're unlucky, you can get stopped at busy intersections. And... If you park your car out anywhere in the city, be prepared to pay for broken windows.

Not trying to deter you from moving to SF, but this is reality for me lol

starcraft pretty much said everything, but its still a nice city to live in. The easy transportation is what really made me like the city. There's also some nice places to go if you don't have a lot of money.

What school are you attending?

Wow. Thanks for all that info. It's a lot of good information to consider. I got into sf state. I know it's not the best school but it gives me the excuse to go to frisco

SF State is a great school but that depends on your major...
