Yeah, but you're attacking every other person who wants citizenship that doesn't really have anything to do with you. Basically you're saying that since they have citizenship, we don't really value everyone else who is just like you who eventually wants citizenship to the US and in-state tuition to attend colleges in the United States. It is kind of selfish for you to think that way and that is definitely a characteristic with people that I've seen who oppose the DREAM Act or similar acts like it. They only care about themselves, not everyone else. This same principle applies to health care reform as well. Now, we want immigration to be a win-win situation for everyone that has some involvement with it, not just yourself/your friends/your family members. As I reiterate again, that's a very selfish mentality. Either that is the reason you are here, or it's because you just want to cause problems. By the way h3wlett, she hasn't manipulated everyone, which is great.

I am not the biggest fan of La Raza, but this strategy is exactly what needs to happen in order to make pro-immigration reform voices heard. If this is a way that the Hispanic community can gain a better realization about the politicians who are their enemies, then it doesn't really matter what the origin of the idea is, in my mind.

Unfortunately this last round of activism for the DREAM Act shows that the only thing that matters to politicians is votes. The phone calls look nice on paper, but politicians fear people with power--people who can vote. This is a tremendous opportunity for us. If you look at the latests census data (http://pewhispanic.org/files/reports/132.pdf)those states that gained the most clout in Washington did so because of a growth in the Hispanic (and probably the undocumented) population. They are also among the most stridently Republican and anti-immigrant states in the last election. This means that a few elections going badly for Republicans in those states will make politicians there realize that they can only vilify Hispanics at the risk of their political careers.

Hence, this is the message we need to spread: if you have the right to vote and are Hispanic, commit to not voting for any of these politicians because they are your enemies and the enemies of your family. Tell this to your friends and family, and repeat it over and over to whomever will listen and can vote because this is the only real hope we have.

Republicans will pass CIR and DA along with a STRONG border security bill. It's always the republicans doing CIR.

How many Tea Partiers would stand behind this?

If I could make everybody in this thread read one post, it would be this one.

We have a large, powerful Hispanic constituency, but hardly any of them vote or exercise organized power politically.

If the Tea Party can do it, if nativists and anti-immigrants and white supremacists can wield political power, why can't the Hispanic community?

Why is it all these isolated groups when we can have one large united popular front??
