I already have mine from MD, but my brother and sister now need one. Where did you get yours? I live around DC. I heard that TN is somewhat lenient, but I've check their website and it looks like they require proof of legal status. I'd like to know if anyone is from there or if there are any of you on the east coast who know where my brother and sister might be able to get their DL. Thanks!

Oregon and New Mexico are amongst the few that allow you to obtain one without proof of legal status.

Bertdude7 is wrong. The only states that allow you to get a Dl are new Mexico, Washington, and hawaii. New Mexico and washinton might change their laws really soon which will make if harders for the undocumented to get a license.

back in the day it was possible. Hawaii is off the list right now.

"Only seven states – Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah and Washington – allow undocumented immigrants to get driver’s licenses"

So you weren't able to get it at all?

Also, anyone has tried to get an international driver's license. I know the hassle with getting one is that you have to have your country's DL. Things may have changed since I last checked, but it'd be nice if someone else has any other info.

I'm not sure where you are and I'm sure its different everywhere but in GA, an international DL is worthless. It's the same thing as not having a DL at all, they don't accept it.
