This is going to cause them to build a giant wall.
How is that any different than what they have been trying to do for the past how many years?

What you and many others fail to realize is that there is no real effort to try to quell the flow of illegal immigration to this country, or repair it for that matter.

Indeed, we play a vital role in providing much needed money and labor at a cheap cost. Without illegals like us, this country would not stand.

So in a sense, you can feel wanted.

Does that make you feel warm and fuzzy inside?

At least they were shot in Mexico and not the border. People get shot in Mexico all the time. That's the least of their worries.

They were shot driving back from Mexico City to cross the border in Monterrey. If this will get the president to put troops down there and finish the border wall the faster the Dream Act will pass. It does not matter how it is played out it will blamed on that border not being secured then on Immigration reform the anti immigrant crowd have won by putting all the border issues on immigration shoulders.

Cross the border in Monterrey? Last I remember, Monterrey isn't near the border...

Said the agents were out of McAllen Tx so coming from Mexico city if I remember right you take 40 through Monterrey and the there 120 miles apart from McAllen. They are believed to of been killed by an illegal road block set up by Cartels.

The President has already sent troops to the border. It goes like this
1) Pledge troops
2) Less magically arrive
3) Not enough to secure the border
And they don't go to the places that need them. If troops were sent to the border to be effective (versus a political token) they would be sent to the National Park that is now closed off to Americans due to violence.

In 2005 Homeland Security approved some of the border wall to be built at $10 million per mile. If the US builds a 20 ft. high wall 22 ft. ladders will appear for sale at the border. We're not going to build a full wall, it will get stalled in legal and funding battles - like it is now. Tunnels have appeared under sections that have walls anyways.

I'm not saying this to be a prick, but I think the best hope for reform is to keep the corrupt DC politicians from poisoning the next DREAM Act or immigration reform bill. The second to last time the DREAM Act was proposed it attached as an after though to a bill that would increase abortions and some other stuff the GOP is known to be firmly against. The most recent time the Dems tried to pass it was a very toxic atmosphere in which Repubs were already pissed off weren't going to do poop. The DREAM Act will come up before the 2012 election, and I feel that if it's proposed at the right time and not paired with abortion bills it could pass by a slim margin.

One thing that could hurt the DREAM Act is the showdown that started today. Obama's budget released today increases overall spending from 2010 by .5 billion. Obama knows the GOP won't stand for it, and there is a decent change we are heading towards a government shut down - like when Clinton was President. That would take attention away from immigration and cause a more toxic political environment than what we have now. I really feel the focus for DREAM should be how to prevent political poison being added to the DREAM Act, and not proposing it in the final session when Democrats are out for Christmas parties.

that stupid wall doesnt have anything to do with it, if u take politicians for their word then you cant complain about having it abd cuz theyll always change the argument on you, its just the next excuse, and when thats done itll be the next excuse after that, as far as i know it was paired with the DADT not abortion bills, the truth of the matter is that theres not alot of people who feel strongly in supporting the DA not even hispanic citizens, compared to all the anti immigrants who do mobilize and protest alot, then add to that the fact that we dont get much media coverage, i bet if it was some other college student arrested for protesting something like we want more money for college that sure would of made news, DA was standalone with no political poison, the republican party is just real good at bullshitting

Abortion clauses were added to the bills DA was paired with. They didn't call them "The Abortion Bill," but it was in there none the less. Anti-migration activists don't come out with the same numbers or as often as those who support immigration reform. The news was saturated with stories about good kids who want to be American and how the DA would help them. Aside from the few kids who took over Congressional Offices (didn't help convince them) and the few who waved Mexican flags, the media coverage was overall positive. Thats why I'm saying the DA comes down to how and when it's presented.
