This is what's happening everyday: Over achievers, as you called them, are traveling all over the world instead of the U.S. They are taking their talents to the UK, Australia, Canada, etc while this country is sinking.

I'm curious about their response too.

I'm in Canada...albeit through a study permit (getting a masters) with a path to permanent residency on the horizon after getting some work experience after graduating

True. I wonder how much longer this country can go on ignoring our skills/talents. I'm not gonna sit on my degree and wait for someone to take charity on our case.

Amen.

If I have to go all of the way to Australia to finally have a life and be a contributing member of society, then I'm all for it. As each day passes, I'm realizing that the U.S. is not the end all be all.

i graduated from ucla with an ms in structural engineering, i waited for the dream act in december, and nothing, and now im planning on going back maybe by may the latest. since i graduated i have been working at a gas station at night. it is pathetic. can you believe it, a masters in engineering from a damn good school, and the best i can do is work at a restaurant or as a cashier, fuck that. i'm leaving. and taking my degree somewhere where it will be useful, for starters i will be heading to mexico.

That is absolutely ridiculous, and good luck to you. It's scary to think how many of us are or will be the same situation as you. Having to work a blue-collar job after earning a masters degree has to be demoralizing.

That's a great idea!, could you make a different thread though? And then maybe Nick or another moderator could make it a sticky thread as well?

For some dreamers that already aged out and others that are aging out it would be great as an optional road out there!
