What's up folks, Just wanted to start a discussion on what's going on in Libya today. I really think Gaddafi should leave but I'm not sure whether Libya is similar to Tunisia and Egypt. One difference is that Libya has huge oil preserves and on top of that EVERYTHING it seems is being controlled by just one dictator and his gang. Just saw his speech and he seems all over the place calling for his supporters to start attacking the protesters and condemning the West.

What do you all make of it?

The people of Libya must not quit. Gaddafi is a dictator and that should be enough. Enough bloodshed has been spilled on the land of Libya for this inhumane situation to stay as it is. The people of Libya very well know the injustice they are living and for that reason they are taking action. Libya must be a free country where the people matter, period.

The people of Libya were inspired by events in Tunisia and Egypt and have finally had enough of Gaddafi. In Libyan hospitals, the people die from simple illnesses because there is no money to buy drugs while Gaddafi and his brood live in lavish palaces. Now, his son has threatened the people with civil war, encouraged them to turn on each other and it is thought that 500+ have died, many in grotesque ways due to the MILITARY dropping bombs and shooting at people.

For excellent world news, unbiased and honest have a look at the BBC ( British Broadcasting).

Europe is a major market, blocking the oil will have its consequences. If he can weather them out, then that's impressive. However, North America, South America, and Asia have other suppliers, so he is going to have to make a really good sell. Many of his closest allies themselves either produce oil or are really close to another nation which does such, so this will get his country in trouble.

Blocking oil to the West will deplete billions from the Libyan economy and that's going to make them more likely to revolt. The West can deal with a price hike. It won't like it, but it'll manage. Libya, however, needs to be free of him.
