I'ts riducolous to see all the comments on that page.. they cry about illegals getting financial aid.. but if we were to get work authorization. they would cry about jobs.. thats just funny.. selfish bastards..

Screw financial aid. Like first commenter said, let the people with advanced degrees work. There needs to be people filling the jobs and working.

I'm not liking the whole tax-payer funded part. Isn't in-state tuition enough? I would literally do anything to gain in-state tuition right now.

Why don't they mention the fact that a student would already have to qualify under AB 540, which usually means they grew up here and are rather assimilated? (Unless I'm wrong and the financial aid is for people who don't qualify as well)

This is great ive been wanting to go to a university for a long time but i couldnt afford it.

Does anyone know how this CA Dream Act would apply for students pursuing a PhD?

The way most PhD programs in the math/sciences work is that the student pays for his education not through Cal Grants or loans but through research/teaching assistantships which cover most of the tuition. However, last I heard is this is done by putting the student in the universities' payroll (must fill I-9 form) and having the student essentially be an employee as well.

Anyone know?
