Keep up your complaining and moaning guys!
It makes it all better! Keep going!
Do they even teach politics/government in high school anymore?

Wait, you do realize that 111th congress voted on DREAM during the lame duck right? I'm trying to decipher your attempt at condescension and don't understand what you were trying to say...

And please, presidents don't introduce Bills to the Congress (I knew Government class would be useful!). That's a job for the members of congress.

I know I'm not going to convince Ali that anything except complaining will help pass this bill, but if the rest of you want to join the movement, I suggest you campaign for DREAM favoring members of congress and senators in 2012.

Where did I ever complain? I merely pointed the fact that while the votes were not there to break a filibuster (if going by dems vs reps senator numbers), bringing up dream right when elections are creeping up (and highest likelihood of politicians getting cold feet and reps. flip flopping) was hardly the best time. Which is where the whole argument started.

I disagree with you guys on a few points.

* 5 Dems disagreed with the party- and hopefully there will be consequences. But the president's job isn't to control the votes of MOC's- that's more up Mubarek's alley. And let's not forget about the Republicans who voted for DREAM in the house and the Senate. The filibuster is ridiculous, but we should give the last senate credit for getting a 55-41 vote in favor of DREAM. The momentum is getting better. If you feel disenfranchised, especially for those of you who have been chasing this for years, I fully understand, but I think this is the wrong time to quit.

*The vote took place after the 2010 elections. And I have yet to see evidence that bringing up the bill earlier would have changed any votes. We all would have liked to see it introduced sooner, but there is not evidence that indicates an earlier vote would have changed anything.

*Most importantly, I don't quite understand what this anti-Obama sentiment on this board comes from. He clearly supports the movement, although he has failed to pass it despite his efforts. Whoever will run against him will not have this support. Let's consider the budget crisis, the economy, and the three wars are here as well. Immigration isn't the only issue on the table, and healthcare probably was a bigger priority (and it probably should have been IMO)

I don't blame anyone for relocating to another country. The system here is broken, and doesn't look too bright going into the future. But with my beliefs being what they are, I believe the president and the Dems can be the ones that guide us to a brighter future.

It's always easy to blame the guy who's in charge, but I don't think that's appropriate right now. Again, I fully understand those of you who feel that the process has left them out. It hasn't been easy. But me, I'm going to follow my delusions and campaign hard for DREAM-supporting Dems going into 2012.

I hope you can join me.

"Barack Obama still hopeful on immigration"

The concept of hope is nothing more than giving up. A word that holds no true meaning.

President Obama will probably deliver plenty of hope during his presidency. and you know what that mean.
