hi everybody my name antonio. i came to the us when i was 5 years old not knowing what was ahead of me in this country they so call the land of dreams.my aunt took in my family my mom have left my dad in mexico cause my brothers that where born here! couldn't handle my father exceptions well thats what i think anyway. my father was very wealthy person in mexico he had his own construction company.but my brother did want to live in mexico any more they wanted to come back to the country they where born and live the american dream idk why if we had a pretty good life over their. as soon as i got here i fell in love with this country i never really told any of my friends that i wasn't born in this country so i pretended the i was a citizen. during my 4th grade summer vacation my mom got a call from my step sister living in mexico saying that my dad was in the hospital and was really ill so my mom took us back to mexico. we found out that my father had cancer and that he has a couple months to live so we stayed with him during the summer and as soon as we can back to the U.S we found out he had past away my mother had gone back to mexico with out saying a word. i found out through my cousin he had past away which was kind of sad i wish my mother has told me. i didn't really cry or anything liked that because for some reason i had a little bit of hate for him i didn't know why i just did maybe because i felt all my problems where his fault idk why .so as time past by i had became a rebel my mother didn't really knew what to do with me and send me to live with one of my older brothers Adam who is a citizen and had moved to San Diego after he has finish high school .he lived with he wife and son. as soon as i moved over their my brother made sure i got my act together. he became the father figure i never had and also became my mentor along with his wife they rise me. through out the time i live with him i did great in school i had gone to middle school over their and also my 9th ,10th grade year. in that summer i decide to move back with my mom i felt like she need help cause she was about to lose the house she work so hard to get. so i move back we lost our house and our now living in an apartment which is not bad i guess considering other people have it worst. now am in the end of junior year and getting really scared on how am i going to do it to pay for college and even work here. all my friends are getting their cars, and getting jobs and i eve them cause i want to be like them and have the life of an american teen. so am hoping that if the dream act does pass maybe i will have the ability to go to college, become an "RN registered nurse" and im every hope full it would pass !

I'm sorry for your loss.
You will make it, just believe in yourself!

Sometimes I feel left out too. Some "friends" even make fun of me. I laugh along, but deep inside all my emotions start to explote and brings hopes down, like way down low! It's sad to hear that chicanos make fun of the immigrants when their relatives crossed the river too!!
Anyways keep your head up dude your not alone!

Don't just count on the Dream Act. Study hard, work hard. Perhaps i didn't quite catch what state you were from, but it is my understanding that a good percentage of the states accept undocumented students. So do your very best in high school to have a great chance at being accepted to a quality state University. Also, it wouldn't hurt to do great in the maths and sciences and even taking a glance at an Engineering Major (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, etc) that could be used in almost every country on the globe; especially the developed ones. Study hard, work hard.
