Ok guys it seems to me that every time I turn on the news they are interviewing a dreamer who came to the U.S at 14 years old, looks very foreign and speaks English with an accent. I mean shouldn't they interview dreamers that came here at 2 years old or 5 years old like many of us did? This knowing how racist many republicans are.. I"m not saying an American should look a certain way but why can't they interview more American looking dreamers ( I know that sounds bad. But I think that would help change the mind of more Americans as they see we are like them).

I feel really bad because i'm hating on these other dreamers knowing i'm the same as them... But I'm certain I can claim i'm very much American in all but paper.

It's just my opinion guys I hope i'm not racist or nothing. I'd like to hear your thoughts...

Not at all because you're not saying your better than them or hate them because of their race. I do agree with you though. Image is everything! We can't come off as the day laborers on the street corners. That's how us dreamers are classified and it sucks. Anytime we do an interview on tv we should def put the most "American looking" of us on the set and every statement needs to be carefully on point without coming off too strong to where people are uncomfortable. I get it all the time, even at school, my advisor said "you? You don't look like or speak like an illegal" she then became more understanding and curious she even said it was insane that since I've been here since I was 3 months old there's no way to adjust. My point is we have to make the best impression possible all the time, every interview fluent English, well groomed, and well spoken with out coming off too strong, that will get more people to want to help us instead of fight us. IMO

That's the thing I knew I was going to get this responses. That's not how I feel at all I know nobody is entitle to more we are all the same both in principle and the law .. I guess maybe i'm just feeling the effects of extreme frustration and lashing out at everybody.

I don't think he has anything against you, he just feels like when the dream is spoken about on tv, the image is something that most Americans are triggered by to dislike. As I said before if it's something that's easy on the eyes and ears most people will tend to think twice. I.E my advisor. I'm not saying it's right because it most certainly isnt, but it would be the most effective way.

No, you are not a racist dreamer. You are just being realistic. The way we speak and look can definitely affect people's opinion.

You're right LifeDreamer. In my opinion the longer a person is here and brought in at a younger age the greater the “disconnect” from the place of origin. How do you send someone to someplace that they have no idea about? This would be exile not deportation.

This does show on interviews and I’m sure it has an effect on the general public .
