It's sad that you think you have to be someones bitch to get green card..

You are also forgetting the fact that the majority of people who don't care are the ones we are trying to turn to our favor..

You need to get real!! You might be happy with your low paying job for the rest of your life but many of us worked hard to get degrees and are not content to live the same lives as our parents like you are..
Did you even read my post man. What I'm stating is that I live a life above all this stuff. I don't care that I don't have papers because I own a business. The only reason why I want to get a green card is to go to Canada on the weekends. About my low paying job well I earn enough to supply all my needs and my quality of life is as if not better that many of my friends who are employed in Microsoft.

As far as using cursed language in a public forum and just writing the way you do without any diplomacy well it shows the great level of education you gain in College.

Let me remind you that everyone has a degree, I'm a stupid ignorant Mexican peasant and I have a bachelors. So getting a degree is not going to open doors as much as good networking skills, hard work and problem solving abilities. So I invite you to read my post between the lines and try to understand what I'm trying to say. In my experience I learn the most from those that have a different way of looking at the same challenges I have to endure.

Why? I would like to know your situation. I really want to learn about those that even marry with a citizen can't fix their situation. I hear a lot about people that just cross the border and didn't got a passport or visa to come in. From my understanding the immigration laws on that conflict themselves. Making the beneficiaries go back to their country of origin but once they leave placing a 10 year ban. So tell me your situation I would like to learn a little more about.

Married my wife because we wanted to. If you entered with out inspection then there is no way to fix from with inyou have to leave and Wait with a ban. Unless you can prove unusual hardship (good luck with that). Again the op and I have no problems with any dreamers of any ethnicity or background were just trying to say that maybe changing our image to someone more relatable to the average American may help get more support.

labamba84 I read your post and maybe I miss understood it. Of course we all live life above all things because thats our reality and it's all we know.. Maybe you feel the way you feel because you have been successful enough to own a business and are doing well for your self to be contempt. You said it your self "The only reason why I want to get a green card is to go to Canada on the weekends" that's not a good enough reason. Let me assure you that not all of us have that luxury and thus feel the crunch and the stress of the life we live.

I also believe you are asking for pretty much the impossible. To do a great job and live a good life without all the proper tools.. I use to live by the idea that everything is possible even the impossible if you try hard enough and work your way around hurdles. How wrong was I .. At one point I didn't care I was a Dreamer I tried almost everything from producing a T.V show for our local NPR station, to owning a competitive city Newspaper/advertising agency and many more including 100's of online business. I was able to do it all because owning a business only requires an EIN ( employment identification number) which you can get with your TIN number..They all failed because I couldn't get credit to grow and sustain them long enough to see significant profit and because my family is poor they were no help. So all the money I saved working hard gone. Now I see how naive I was trying to pursue the American Dream as a Dreamer..

P.S . work on your self esteem issue's.

You brought up a good point that's be taboo in our community for too long. Often times I do come across Dream Act speakers that look a little bit for the ghetto if you catch my drift, but then where are the Dreamers that look American? Why don't they step to podium? I don't do it because I've always been shy of the public eye. But I sincerely believe that our community hasn't completely emerged out of the shadows to let Americans know that we're much American as they are!

Neksrov if your perfect for the job it's time to put all fears and selfishness aside and join the struggle for the greater good. I personally do speak well in public and am up for any job to help the dream act pass.

I understand your point those people you see are most likely immigration activist that belong to small community organizations that help immigrants and not necessarily Dream Act activist. I know they both go hand in hand but we are here to pass the Dream Act not immigration reform all in small steps.

What does it mean to be a "true American"? What do you think defines being an American? Actual patriotism? Actual citizenship? Is a true American someone who supports the Constitution but doesn't fully understand it? What characteristics or connotations associate with the word American? No answers are wrong or right, just share your opinions.

LuckyGirl what makes you so Lucky??? LOL

I don't know where you bring this question from it's unrelated to the post.. This was never about defining what a true American is.

It was about bringing dreamers to the forefront that can relate the most to the majority of Americans which are Euro style Anglo Americans. The post has been very controversial but I bring a good point to the matter.

If we want to win the hearts and minds of these American people we have to present them with an image of themselves..

We are electric and have magnetism as an attraction and the reverse is resistance or repelling. I am like you and attract positive energy. When I do attract something negative it quickly retreats. What I also notice is that I don't want to be around negative energy like people who are chronic complainers or always say no . I work with this energy. I hope this makes sense (somehow). LOL

In case you were wondering, my life is a wonderful adventure.

"Being American" was brought up several times in this thread and that's why I asked the question.

Last but not least, the accent. Most Americans tend to react in interesting ways to various accents but I think Americans speaking foreign languages is the same weirdness. Americans speaking Spanish to me have a flat voice. There is no stress like it properly is.
