Flying from La Guardia airport to Fort Lauderdale?

Hey guys, i know this has been asked a lot, but has anyone flown recenlty within the next month or so from Laguardia airport? My friend who's a USC was telling me that they scan your ID to see if its valid? I will be using my passport and thats why im freaking because I dont wanna get detained or want the tsa to be looking through my passport! I'm really scared as I have not flown in 9 years!

if you can, please avoid buddy. some people said that is fine, but you don't know what's going on when they check your passport. i will totally avoid to take the plane, if i can use other transportation instead.

i agree with kenny....i was getting ready to fly from Ft. Lauderdale to Green Bay back in march...i had all planned out but chickened out cuz i was too scared to show my passport...even tho the TSA website says that a passport is valid form of ID...you never know what can happen.

you are lucky then. but i knew one of friend who used passport to get on the plane at SEATTLE TACOMA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT last year . however, He detained by TSA agents, and they called ICE to verified his ID. At the end, he deported back to china next day early fight!!!!!(because he had passport on hand), and separated with his wife.

If you think you are lucky on that day, then go ahead. No one will stop you, but is it really worth it????

I have done a simliar flight from JFK TO Ft. Lauderdale round trip... no problems... just take a valid passport... no questioned asked

I did this flight in Jan tho.. I have flown countless of times and i have never once been stopped and i have never ever had a ID looked at more then a couple of seconds

Ok, but is it true that they scan your passport or id? How does the process work guys? Please explain, thnx
