Well I see your point my dear friend, being raised in the US were usually the "whites" or caucasians are at the top of the ladder ... I guess Peruvians don't judge by the person's race...yeah I have Asian cousins and it's not unusual anyways Fujimori promised/said/did lots of things (like every president) and now he's in jail. And that my friend is my tl;dr on how Fujimori got into power. if you wanted the loooooooooooooooong version, Wikipedia it. [Lol. it's almost 5 am so you just shouldn't take account on what I said but I really didn't say anything because I don't even know shit he did I just know he successfully rescued the Japanese embassy in Peru from terrorists....]

Peru was the first Latin American country to establish diplomatic relations with Japan and to accept Japanese immigrants. The Japanese began arriving in Peru in the late 1800's. The economic state of Japan was poor, and the Japanese immigrated to Peru to find new job opportunities. They migrated there as agricultural workers.

Peru has the second largest enclave of Japanese in South America next to Brazil. Estimates have Sao Paulo the largest Brazilian city to have 1 in 10 inhabitants of Japanese descent. They migrated in the 19th century to work on the sugar plantations because the end of feudalism in Japan generated great poverty.

There's a NY Times article in 2009 about how Japan was paying workers from Brazil to go back. (It's actually all over the news in 2009). The guest workers were Brazilian citizens of Japanese descent. The government was going to pay them a certain amount of money and they'd promise to never go and look for work in Japan again.

My favorite part of that whole speech was this bit. xD

Edit: Ex-President Fujimori is a child of this emigration.

It's uncanny that in almost every continent, the brown people aka natives don't represent. It could be because they lack education but it's as if they're dead. On a totem pole it would be natives, "poles", wealthy, influential, corporations sigh...

well...politics in peru are much different than here...you dont have just two parties....and theres two rounds in the elections...so you usually have like 4 top candidates...now every person believes in one party more than the other. (obviously, lol).
Now in the first round the top four were humala, fujimori, PPK (thsoe are his initials, but he's white and was minister of economy). and toledo (former president). I wanted ppk to win, and so did every peruvian in the middle class and up....but since there are more poor ppl in peru than anything else...they'll vote for the candidate that offers them more..in this case Humala (socialist, big surprise!)....so he won the first round...but who took second place?? Fujimori (bitch)...now..no1 wanted her to win because her dad completely broke the law and didn't respect human rights..thats why he's in jail...and keiko (bitch) promised that she wouldn't turn to her father for advice (bullshit)...and also..during her father's administration, the minister of intelligence was the biggest corrupt person ever..he pretty much ran the country...and he totally would be involved in keiko's decisions as president...so thats why it was like picking between terminal cancer and aids....also..women shouldn't do a man's job...haha..jk.
