I live in Georgia, but lived in the Bronx as a kid. Lately, I've been thinking about going back to finish my degree in New York due to the new Georgia law and traveling issues. I read that each CUNY has a niche, so does anyone know which CUNY is the best for biology, microbio, or biochem?

Also, does anyone have any experience with transferring?

Hey reffering to your question, probably the best CUNY schools for sciences are Hunter, CCNY and maybe Queens. I'm currently a Bio major at CCNY and I really like it. There are alot of opportunities for doing research and the general advisors are really helpful and friendly in trying to look out for me despite my situation. My personal experience I was between Hunter and CCNY, after visiting Hunter a couple of times I really disliked the environment is such a small school for a large number of people. I know some of my friends from HS went there for BIO as well and they had a really hard time trying to get their bio and lab classes together because there was just not enough seats ( and this was general bio). I don't see this happening in CCNY except for the upper level classes. But if you can get into either honors program or honors college which both provide full tuition you wont have a problem with this and it REALLY comes in handy later on. I also preffered the way the curriculum is set up in ccny than in hunter. So my advice is visit both schools if you have a chance and see in which you see youself at for the next 4 years. Good luck

Well you need a bachelor's degree before you can go to law school.

Also:
* Law school is horrendously expensive. There are few scholarships available.
* Most newly graduating lawyers cannot find a job.
* You can't take the bar exam if you're in the country illegally.

So... you might want to reconsider.

Thanks for the answers. I'll be emailing CCNY, Hunter, and Queen's College today. I know some people are probably in the same position as me and need to transfer/apply outside of their state. I'll post their responses to the questions I send them in this thread.

I got a response back from Hunter. Nothing so far from the other schools, so I'll email again and if I still don't get a response, then I'll call.

Hunter College accepts undocumented students. Unfortunately Macaulay Honors College is only available to incoming freshman not transfer students. We do offer other scholarships for undocumented students go to the Hunter College web site and search undocumented scholarships and you can find out how to apply for them. I hope this information was helpful.

No, answer from emailing Queens or CCNY, yet. I called, left my name and number and they will be returning my call by about Tuesday. Hopefully, I can get some answers for everyone that is interested.

Yes, I'm aware each cuny has different scholarships and even within majors and departments for each school. I can only speak for city because that's where I go. Although macaulay is only for students straight out of HS, I know for a fact that in City the honors program is open to transfer students, and like I said covers most of the tuition and you get good benefits. The science department also has a number of scholarships, which, when I asked some are also open to undocumented students. And thanks if you received any other info from the schools let us know as I would like to share the info with other friends who are in the same path. Thanks
