While i do believe ppl should learn the english language since they are in the US...for some reason this commercial seems so wrong. Just the way he said it, "This is alabama we speak english, if you wanna live here learn it" he was so blunt about it

I do agree... But I highly doubt these people are doing it purely for those reasons..

I disagree with people who keep calling for English only in the USA. This is bigotry in disguise. As far as I know this country speaks English because the majority of people in the country spoke English. There has always been different languages but the biggest immigrant groups to the country in the 1800's where the English and then on the 1900's the Irish. So English made sense. Now we have a new country that encompass parts of what use to be Mexico (Spanish Speaking country) a lot of the people who where annexed in the 1900 spoke Spanish. Over the past 110 years migration to the USA of Latin Americans had created a society of about 50 million people who speak Spanish. That in a 310 million people nation is a significant number so Spanish should be fully recognize as a second language. To give you an example there are 7 million french speakers in Canada a nation of 35 million people and they get second language status.

I know is hard for a lot of immigrants to understand my point of view, but I feel that west of the Mississippi all that was pioneered, settle or facilitated the settlement of land by the Spanish speaking populations. My ancestors who created the routes and towns that the English speaking people use to build their nation.

Well if you want Spanish to re recognized as a second language, that means basically anyone who doesn't speak it has to learn? which alot of people don't really want to do. I believe everyone should speak which ever langauge they want but I mean It makes sense that if you come to America Illegally or Legally you have to learn English just to get by.
