Agreed Dres2011 does have a stupid mentality and way of thinking...

I've challenged God to smite me but he doesn't. I guess God doesn't believe in euthanasia. lol.

Generally, I have a hard time believing in things like karma and supernatural beings. I think after we die, we die. lol. There is nothing else. That's it. The life we had is the life we had. I feel ideas of heaven and hell are meant to satisfy our need for poetic justice. That at the end of our life, we will be given the life we deserve. The good will be rewarded, and the evil will be punished. Life wraps up in a neat little bow. It seems too idealistic to be true.

I look at animal life and their life is so simplistic: be born, learn survival skills, eat, sleep, reproduce, and then die. The way I see it, life is this huge game to see which species has the best survival skills to reproduce as much as possible and thrive. So basically, let's see who f**** the most and survives to f*** some more. Life is truly magical.

Yeah, my p.o.v. on life is too bitter and disenchanted. lol.

I couldn't agree more. I mean that sounds just too magical. And let's say that there is a heaven and a hell; how overpopulated is it? Humans have been around for at least 100,000 years (DNA code project), and if the animals, bacteria and every form of living organism go to this heaven/hell, imagine! It just doesn't add up.

Also, I have to say this. I think that in no more than 100 years, the Christian religion is gonna fall! Just think about all the beliefs that have fallen throughout history. The Greek gods, the Mayans worshiping every creature. It only makes sense for humans to turn into something else to explain the greatest mysteries of our time...where do we come from, and where do we go after death.

Lol, this thread again?

Quote:
Ludwig Feuerbach (1804-1872) wrote it in "Essence of Christianity: God the Image of Man. Man's Dependence upon Nature the Last and Only Source of Religion" (1841)"

"It is not as in the Bible, that God created man in his own image. But, on the contrary, man created God in his own image."
[Flying Spaghetti Monster] FSM. ftw.

Organized religions have a pyramid scheme.
There is tons of castigation, eternal suffering and abnegation.

Sometimes I wonder: If the purpose of life is to be progressive and achieve goals and not remain stagnant, then religion is the anti purpose of life.

Anyways, It's possible that there is a grand all knowing all encompassing force out there that can influence every atom in the universe. Perhaps it's an entity or a scientific concept but what matters is believing in it because the brain is the real God in all this.

i unno; spanish inquisition/crusades vs Stalin or Mao's rule? I pick the least of both evils. Obviously someone's bound to bring out the Amerindians genocide (which I don't particularly believe was religiously motivated) or Hitler's dabbling in Christianity, yet I considered him more of an atheist playing devil's advocate.

so atheists answer me this... What makes you say you're a good person?
We were given freedom of choice. An atheist might be an awesome human being and Christians could do murder. Think outside the box.

The Pope himself said that atheists are Nazis who tried to destroy God's believers. (He was in the UK just recently). So...... he's comparing atheists to crazy people who tortured and killed Jewish people ?!? He's the extremist here.

My view on religion is irrelevant and I was just addressing your post.

I agree with you completely. Why should you watch others have their dreams fulfilled while all you can do is try to enjoy their success vicariously? That's not life. Nothing happens by accident.

Everything that exists and every event that has transpired is the result of conscious thought - - yours and the people around you. The only reason your dreams are not being fulfilled is because YOU are not in the thoughts of those who can make it so! Think about that for a moment!

So, what exactly does that mean? There was a time when you could attribute a person’s position in life to their blood, race, and background. If you didn’t have royal blood you could never be a King. If you weren’t born a certain race the chance of you owning your own business or getting an education was also slim to none. Today those factors no longer have as great an influence on your success as your attitude. You can’t find what you are looking for if you don’t know what you want. Your own mind is your greatest ally but it can also be your worst enemy once you have accepted defeat.

If you fall in love with someone and they reject you would you say that is unfair? You know that she is just one person and that it would be foolish to think that because she doesn’t want you there is no one on the planet who would. There are some things in life that are unfair. Learn to tell the difference and then act on the things you can change and don’t waste energy on the things you can’t.

I hope I didn't say anything to offend you because that was certainly not my intention.

Good luck!

dont forget the catholic church was the very first to sign a treaty with hitler. funny the pope calls us nazis when the catholic church itself used to celebrate hitlers birthday every year. in my opinion you become a BETTER person if you dont have religion. with religion you are good only to the standard that the certain religion tells you to be good at. example christians can be very good neighbors and donate to charities, but then add a gay person or an athiest into the picture and they turn into the devil. if your athiest you have no ral reason to hate someone so you accept everything. race, gender, religion, gay/straight.
