Hi everyone,
I just discovered this forum when i was researching my question on-line.
let me say first that i am very impressed that this site (forum even exists). anyways here is my question, if anyone has any idea or has experienced this situation before please feel free to share your story with me! ok so: i just got a job offer working a 1099 job, which means there wont be any holding of my federal taxes (irs). my question is will they check for a ssn? or will they even care since i will be treated as an independent contractor? i will be responsible for paying my taxes to the irs which i will using my itin, but will the employer have to report how much they payed me to the irs as well using a ssn or can they report it to my itin?.... that was more than one question i know but i am just so worried and so new to these employment situations. if anyone can help i would really apreciate it!
thanks!

All employer's are required to sent w3 to the irs showing who they paid wages and also who they issued 1099 as sub contractor with their EIN# or SS# whatever they provided. They do not take taxes off 1099 sub contractors. You can give them ur itin # who you pay taxes on. They should have no problem, just tell them this is ur EIN# and they will take it. Good luck!!

They are supposed to ask you for a ss#. When they do, give them your itin and they'll have no problem. What you will do next is desclare your "1099" or "w-2" on your income. Contact a tax accountant of your trust circle if you have one for further help. You should have no problem with this, getting the job is the hard part sometimes. Good luck!
