I did, at bank of America. You might need a secured 1 where you put down 100 and if you show your responsible, they give it back to you the following year. They even just gave me a credit increase.

I'm pretty sure you can build credit using a secured credit card. Personally, I'm just holding off until I get my first credit card. Got no need of it right now. Not trying to get into any debt when my situation is pretty tough as it is.

I don't want to waste time, if i have a chance to raise my credit score why not?
i'll just build it slowly.
But would i need a TIN for that?

From experience I can tell you that Capital One and American Express will approve you for a card if you meet the qualifications and use your ITIN.

Yeah, BofA will sell you a secure credit card with just an ITIN. You can even do it online.

I applied for a Capital One card a while ago but was denied because of no credit history. I used a tax ID number. They've been sending me offers by mail. I guess this is only because they have my name in the database. I'm just afraid to apply for one as I have some previous bills that my college insurance hasn't covered. I don't want that to affect my new credit history if I was to be given a line of credit.
