yes, once your trial date comes, you can ask the court for continuance and delay the trial another month of two. it's just one of those court protocal you can use to your advantage if you know the system. lots of traffic lawyers use this tool for their clients to obtain their drivers license to get away with tickets.

it really doesnt matter once I got a ticket for driving without and the judge just dismissed it..
