Megabus

Hey guys, I know there have been 3 or 4 threads on megabus, but I'm trying to be really cautious. I am planning a college visit to philadelphia, specifically, Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore leaving from Fairfax; northern VA. I would probably leave on Thursday night or Friday morning, then coming back Saturday evening. Any opinions?

I know that we're not geographically close, but I've taken the Chinatown bus and Amtrak from Boston, MA to NYC (also surrounding areas) many times and had no trouble. I don't know how close to the border you'll travel, but I would avoid using public transportation if you'll be within 100 miles from Canada. Make sure to check your ticket's itinerary before departure.

Bryn Mawr graduate here. I traveled back and forth from Boston. I used Megabus, Bolt and Chinatown buses for years without any issues. Not sure if the threads you've seen are about VA but I'd say they're pretty safe.

I want to take the bus to NYC from northern VA as well, can I anyone share their experiences, concerns, or anything I should be aware of? I'm taking the bus, because otherwise, I've been told, all the tolls on the way could come up to $45 one way.

I've taken BOLT bus many times, and I've never had a problem. You guys don't get too scared. I know how you guys feel. I was like that in the beginning, but seriously you have nothing to worry about. Just avoid greyhound, that bus is just crap.

Thanks so much for sharing Vmd. IDK, think nothing's said till it's done..is how I feel. I'm looking at ride shares on craigslist to alternative routes avoiding toll roads. That's just me trying to go for the safest route. Thanks again.
