Well, what is weird is the case of Utah. Didn't Utah grant undocumented immigrants work permits through a mini-version of immigration reform this or last year?

AB131 the CA Dream Act HAS PASSED CONCURRENCE at the State Assambly. Let's continue calling Gov. Jerry Brown and ask him to support and sign AB131 (916)445-2841.

Be polite: "My name is _________ and I'm calling to ask Governor Jerry Brown to support and sign Assembly Bill 131, the California Dream Act. Thank you very much"

Also, demand a bill that seeks to give us a work permit--IF IT CAN BE DONE IN CALIFORNIA. I still insist on the case of Utah.

What is really weird yet somehow good news is that some of the conservatives that I have talked to prefer that we receive work permits instead of state money.

Southern California is quite conservative. A possibility exists.

Alright, I see what you meant. Utah's law isn't really being implemented, though, since it's being challenged in court. There's no conceivable way I can see this happening unless the Federal Government gives its express permission--something that would be absurdly unreasonable from a legal standpoint simply because states haven't ever had the power (as far as I know, so correct me if I'm wrong) to grant individuals permission to reside legally in the United States (since such individuals would be entitled to freedom of movement around the country due to their quasi-legal status).
