Wouldn't it be easier to pass such legislation? I mean I know Republicans will come up with some sort of other nonsensical excuse to it but wouldn't it be nice to see such a bill be introduced?

"Mister Speaker, I've served in Marine 432 battalion for 15 years and received an honorable purple heart.. Can we let these criminals into our honorable military? Military is supposed to protect our AMERICAN Citizens, not CRIMINAL ALIENS.. These criminals will pollute our honors and reputation within our AMERICAN military."

I believe it could pass, I mean they already entice permanent residents to enlist by offering expedited citizenship. That in itself should tell you something.

I read a really good piece by a professor of law at the University of Houston that argued that, had the DREAM Act been introduced as part of the Defense Appropriations Bill earlier on into the Iraq War, it would have been passed.

That was a very possible scenario. I guess it's all about the mood of the American people.

Well there is a program called the MAVNI it recruits immigrants who has tps, refugee, visa. Basically any type of temporary legal status. The thing is you have to speak 1 or 35 languages they picked or you have to have a medical degree in anything that has to do with health care. If, they accept you, then you could go striaght into applying for your citizenship in 6 month span but u have to stay in there for atleast 3 year. I Applied yesterday waiting to get contacted.

There are so many permanent residents and USCs enlisted in the army bc of the recession that MAVNI virtually ended, unless you're a brain surgeon.
