Well....the DV lottery is for about 50-60K folks....I think about 14million apply. So about less than 1% chance to actually win? still some hope, if i could apply i would, but i agree makes no sense.

Do participate if you are under 245i. I won last year, and now I am going through the process. If everything goes well I should have my green card anytime during the next year.

If any of you have any questions if you happen to win and would like to know how to proceed, I am glad to help.

245i does not matter if you are from a country that disqualifies you.

Yeah unfortunately you're not eligible regardless because those countries already send in a huge amount of immigrants. Sucks what can you do...

It really depends on where you're from. I think they have a cap for each eligible country. I remember back in the day about four families we knew won the lottery and now they've been in America for over a decade and all settled down.

You guys ask such obvious questions.

Yes, I am from a country that qualifies (Venezuela)

AND

Yes, I am under 245i.

I wouldn't have participated and put myself at risk for deportation if I wasn't under 245i.

oh wow okay. I applied for it years ago but I'm not under 245i. Didn't know it would put you at risk for deportation. Will stay away from it then...need to stay here for at least another year.
