Can I use my Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) to obtain my free annual credit reports?

AnnualCreditReport.com places a premium on maintaining consumer integrity and security with respect to our service. As such, only a Social Security Number (SSN) can be submitted on the AnnualCreditReport.com website. As the ITIN format is similar to the SSN format, you may enter the ITIN number into the SSN field on the Annual Credit Report Request Form and submit the request via mail. Once a request arrives at each of the nationwide consumer credit reporting companies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion), it is subject to the verification requirements of each individual credit reporting company.

Just as an update, I tried mailing it in using my ITIN and was able to receive a credit report from Experian. Transunion and Equifax both requested proof of SSN. However, you are only given a report. If you want your credit score as well, it seems as if a SSN is needed.

So everyone's talking about using their ITIN to open bank accounts, but has anyone had success in getting an apartment with it? If so, explain the process and the state you are from.

Didn't seem like much of an issue at first, but I quickly realized how convenient a debit card would be. Luckily, I found a way to get one that's tied to your account (plus some). PayPal offers a debit card for people with verified accounts. Apply, scan your passport and ITIN documents and your good to go. I have my checking account as my primary backup source, my savings as a secondary, and then my credit card as a third option. Finally, my parents' checking account is also tied to my PayPal account, so I have that added protection as well. It's highly unlikely it gets denied because of all this added protection.

It works mint -- it's accepted everywhere as it's a Mastercard and it makes you look cool because he says "business debit" on it. Pretty badass.

EDIT:
I also forgot that I get cash back for being enrolled in Green$ense (Citizen's Bank) and PayPal's 1% cash back opportunity on select purchases. I actually turned out better than most of my friends with bank issued debit cards!
personally i used it to open account with bank of america, they provide debit card and also with ur own money u can have a secured credit card also.

2 Question

1.Did anybody applying for a ITIN using the W-7, sent a notarized copy of the information section of their passport?

2. Also on section 6d on the W-7 form, it's asking for "Date of entry into the
United States" will you get rejected for leaving out that information?

I'm not too sure about this myself. But from experience, I can tell you if you are getting a house or something with a bunch of friends, most likely you shouldn't worry about it. Just get them to show their credit reports/information. But again maybe you can get one with ITIN as well. Good luck.
