Well it only points out that education officials support the dream act. The only reason why they are bringing this up is because of the success of other states passing their own dream act.

Its a guy from the "board of regents" does he have some type of legislative power, or is this just another opinion piece?

Nice to see another state that would add DL.

He has some legislative power... And hes just showing support.. And about the DL, it is barely mentioned. I really need this to pass.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but don't get your hopes terribly high (at least about the DL). When Illinois passed our latest version of the Dream Act, there was talk at the beginning stages of adding in the provision of allowing Dreamies the ability to get a drivers license. When they really looked at it, it would've been almost impossible to pass the bill with that in there, so they took that part out and passed the bill without it. I'm still glad they passed the bill, but the DL would've helped so much. Oh well. one step at a time.

Can't you get a driver's license in Illinois if you have just a Social Security card? I read the requirements and all it seems like is I need residential proofs...

If you live in NYC, you don't really need a DL anyways.
