Not sure how many of you are old enough to remember this memorable tag line from the UNCF ad campaign. Well, it has been 40 years now and it has been a very successful campaign.
I know the Dreamers have been using DA or DreamAct as the slogan or tag line to promote the Federal Dream Act, but I feel we need something like the aforementioned tag line to promote our goal. In fact, I think we should just adopt it. Instead of just using DA 2011 or Dream Act 2011, we should be promoting the above tag line. Then we proceed to educate the general public regarding the Federal Dream Act.
In marketing, a catchy tag line is worth so much more as compared to a wall of text! Prime example is Cain's 999 plan. It is a very catchy tax slogan (we all know this regressive tax solution will never pass Congress). Other examples include Nike's "Just Do It" and Allstate's "You're in good hands with Allstate".
If we cannot use the above tag line due to IP copyright, etc., perhaps we need to create a more catchy tag line to promote our causes. The occupy wall street (#OWS) and 99% are very good at representing their causes. But, I still think 'A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste' should be our official slogan. Another suggestion is 'An Educated Mind is a Tragedy to Waste' for the graduated dreamers.
Please discuss in a civil manner and try to think a catchy slogan for our causes. I will add them as more are suggested.
As one of the older dreamers on here, I remember it well...First when I was in middle school and as High School graduation came closer and closer, I was trying to come up with excuses as to why I wouldn't be going to college (although part of me was thinking something would spare me from that nightmare).
In particular there was one commercial when this black kid was dressed in a graduation gown and was joking around and saying something like "I'm going to go home, brush my teeth, comb my hair....etc" after being asked what he was doing after graduation as a cover for his inner sadness. I envied that kid because at least he COULD have a future.
