I am undocumented student living here in California.
As some of you already know, you really need to drive around if you live in suburban.

Well, since I'm undocumented I can' t drive legally here in California. I tried to get Washington state driver license many times, but I failed.

I am wondering how fellow DREAMERS drive around town in California.

Do you just drive without license?

Please share.

Before I moved here I had a New Mexico DL. but I think it would be possible to drive without a DL.

Chicago suburbs = horrible public transportation

I drive without a licence, 7 years and I have never been stopped.

I stick the keys in the car, turn it clockwise and drive, but it has been a while, back when ^^ i lived in the Chicago suburbs.

Its not only horrible public transportation, it just does not exist, at least not where I used to live. I left when there was an attempt to make some sort of public transportation service available, the only solution for a place like that was a service that you scheduled ahead of time and they would pick you up in a bus at your door.

Worst yet, now that I am more involved I have learned that where I used to live has seen some of the worst stories of implementing the S-Comm program and considerable abuse in Illinois.

Now I live in the city, excellent public transportation.

well.... being prepared if you get caught might not be a bad idea. Never state that you are undocumented, know by memory important phone numbers, the only answer that you should really answer is your name and that is so you are able to found in the system if someone searches for you.

Ya, this is no help for you since your in CA, but anyone can get DLs in New Mexico. But obviously, if you drive without a license, you'd better keep every single traffic law there is: have you lights on at night, stop fully at stop signs, blah, blah. These are things that should be done anyways. I'm just saying, if they so desire, a police officer can pull you over for the slightest thing. I got pulled over and got a written warning for going 3mph over...

I don't know if it helps but my mom haven't had a ticket or stop in 15 years of driving in this country.
