Last night my dad asked me if I knew anything about international driving licenses as he learned from friends that some place/office is offering/selling them. Honestly I have no clue if those licenses are worth it or actually serve a purpose in case i get pulled over by the police. Could anyone please shed some light as to what's the benefit of obtaining one?
Thankss brothas

Legally, they are no use, but it's better than nothing.

Haha, cops get really pissed off when you try to pull those off as real license. Don't drive with those things. You will only ask for trouble. If your gonna risk driving without a license I least recommend you drive a car that is registered and insured. It's actually worst not driving a legit car than not having a license. I once was question by a cop and this how it went;

Cop: Hand in your License, Registration, and Insurance?
Me: (I handed in my car's papers)
Cop: What about your license?
Me: I forgot my wallet.
Cop: Ok, give me your name, birth date, address and I'll check the computer?
Me: Ok (Don't ever lie)
Cop: (10 minutes later) Tell me the truth! Do you or do you not have a license because it's not showing up?
Me: Yeah I bought one of those International License.
Cop: You know they're fake?
Me: No I didn't.
Cop: Well I'm gonna have to give you a ticket and your gonna need to call someone who has a real license to come get your car if not we're gonna have to tow it away.
Me: ok

You can use the same clever excuse if you want. I got a ticket and got to keep my car. It's all about being calm and acting like if it's no big deal. If they ask for your SSN just say you don't remember it.

"I don't remember it"
Come on, no one who has a social security number ever forgets it, its like forgetting your birth date.
Just say "I don't have one, I don't have a licence because I can't get one"

steer clear of anything that would be downright saying you are undocumented

It's an old video, not sure as to it's applicability in states with s-comm, but its better not to downright tell them your status without having an immigration lawyer present.

Your telling me that every single U.S. citizen and resident knows his SSN? Come on. Yeah go ahead and say you don't have a SSN. My friend, who is also undocumented, was stopped and the cop asked for his social. My friend had a valid US state license and still the cop insisted for his social. My friend said he didn't remember it, but the cop insisted and even asked if he was illegal. He said no and that he just didn't remember it. The cop didn't let him go for more than an hour. The cop was really pissed off that he couldn't get anything on him, but he eventually let him go.

All I'm saying that the only information your obligated to give is your Name, Birthdate , Address, and your Automobile's Papers. You can bullshit your way out of the rest.

So when you get pull over, you should stay silence? I think that will piss the cop off.

At the time of that video there not all those laws deputizing county police to do the job of federal officials, ICE, so now, they are able to get away with a lot more, even profiling people based on how they look.

But regardless, if you say you are undocumented, then you are giving them a reason to take you in, if you don't they may or may not take you in, if they do, don't say anything other than your name, that will make you able to be found in the system by family members, however, many people have been lost just because for immigration cases you might be arrested in one state, sent around detention facilities all over the country, the only way you can be found is through the A number they would give you, that is perhaps the most important number you would need to know if arrested and processed by immigration.

Another very important piece of advice if arrested, they will take your phone and wallet and all your belongings, a lot of people don't think about that stuff, but in the age of technology, we are no longer in the need of memorizing numbers, we have phones that will do that, a lot of people get arrested, don't have access to that stuff, and are unable to call friends and family because they do not recall their number.

Memorize numbers, very important.

Something else to note, only the call with your lawyer or speaking with your lawyer may be kept in anonymity, every other call will be listened to, I believe the people I talked to where referring to what kind of information they may use against you in a court of law, if you incriminate other people in a call they can go after them, unless you are talking to a lawyer, they cannot legally listen to that call as it is confidential.

Here is another very important piece of advice from people who have been working with people in detention centers, lawyers, and END cases. A tactic that has been used by ICE in certain facilities is that they will go, look at the names of people on a rooster, pick and choose those that sound foreign, call your name out (since in most cases you will be around many other inmates) and expect you to respond. Unless it is your lawyer you are not required to respond. Of course, people will usually respond, but doing so without talking with a lawyer might risk any possibility of a deal being reached.

This happens even in facilities that are in areas not enforcing s-comm, where you would have to be released if they don't have any legal basis for holding you in jail (unless ICE decides to pay for you to be held, they very rarely do that unless you are a serious threat, however, recently, they have been playing chicken with that system and not even paying for the most heinous of criminals to try and make a case that heinous criminals are being released by not following S-Comm, and proposing indefinite detention of undocumented)

So... staying quiet may piss them off, but talking will give them legal reason for following through with detaining and contacting ICE, which may invite legal repercussions or even transfer you directly to a detention facility for immigrants where you are may not be legally allowed to a call, representation by a lawyer, and may be detained indefinitely.
