Hey guys I live in NJ but I attend a CUNY. I heard that with some documents including a h.s diploma from NY you can receive it. However I graduated hs in NJ but I live in a small apartment with a friend in NY. Is there anything I can do?

I think it's only if you have a HS diploma from NY and have lived here for a number of years.

CUNY Baruch College was very particular about the kinds of documents that were to be submitted, in which includes high school transcript, tax return form, my parent's driver's license.

CUNY John Jay, however was very lenient. They didn't ask for any documents. (even though I don't attend this school, I personally went into the admissions office to help out my undocumented friend through the process).

How do you guys apply to CUNY? Did you contact their office or did you just send in your application and leave the citizenship part blank?

In my case, I checked "Others" on the citizenship part of my application. After I was accepted to the school, I contacted their office by phone and then went to them personally to hand them my documents for in-state tuition.

When speaking to them, just be truthful and tell them you're undocumented. They're friendly. Chances are, you're not the first undocumented student who went up to them.

I don't live in NY, but I'm thinking about transferring to CUNY when I finish my AS degree in my college.

Universities in Michigan charge about 23,000 per year + no way of transportation without scaring the shit out of yourself by driving without a license.

The only reason I want to go to CUNY is because they only charge 13800 per year. I can live with my relative and they can easily hook me up with a job. Is there any other university in NY that is cheap, around 14000 per year?

There is a college called Cooper Union where everyone attends tuition-free but you have to be good enough to get accepted to Harvard to get in. (must have perfect or 780 on Math SAT section for all engineering students + top notch HS GPA etc.)

You can't really find cheaper college than CUNY.. There are SUNY schools but they are far away from NYC (except FIT). The closest SUNY from NYC is Stony Brook, which is still 3 hours away by bus + train from NYC.
