So I was having a little trouble paying my tuition and books. I needed a few hundred dollars and I decided to look for some scholarships at my school. I asked my counselor and she told they might consider giving me some at this office but she didn't promise anything. I went by and applied they basically asked for an essay and unofficial transcript and did not ask for SS. A few minutes later, I get a call from the dean and he asks me go to by. He was surprised by my very good grades and struggle to pay everything off (he didn't know about my status) and invited me to join the honors program where they pay EVERYTHING for you and I immediately accepted. He then explains everything and I get extremely excited . He now asks me to fill up some paperwork and finish a 2 page essay. I go to the library and finish a quick essay (which he thought was superb) and proceed to fill everything else out. I then see one of the requirements to join the group. Yep, you guessed it right...you need to be a legal resident.

I went from super excited/happy to absolutely destroyed. I thought to myself, "yea this was too good to be true." I didn't even wanna go back and explain how I was undocumented, but the man was such a good person that I did not wanna leave him hangin. Two hours later, I went to his office. I was as pale as a fucking corpse and he asked me if everything was OK. He starts filling all my information and then he asks me "whats your social" and I tell him I was undocumented. He asked me how it happened and he was extremely understanding and told me not to worry that he knew about the DREAM act and he was looking forward to help. He told me he was gonna make an exception and I would have no trouble joining . Have in mind that he is a white male. He also told me that no one could know about my status because he cannot get illegal immigrants into the program. I felt incredibly happy I realized that there are very good people in the world. You just gotta look hard sometimes

Just wanted to share with my fellow dreamers and know that there are people out there willing to help. He told me that he knew people like me and he encouraged everyone to "come out of the shadows." Thank you for reading

Well, he did put the effort to contact the counselor, otherwise he wouldn't have received the call.
