I just graduated as a Registered Nurse...
Does anyone know anyway I can start work as Nurse?

I really want to be a registered nurse. What advice can you give me???

Congrats! As far as I know, you can only work privately, unless a nursing home or something is willing to overlook your status. You can try to get sponsored through employment, but visas for RNs are currently backlogged, and the wait can be as long as 5 years. You will also have to prove that there is no other legal resident available to do the job (hard to prove in current economy), and you also don't get authorization to work while you wait for visa.

Visas for masters-level nurses are current (meaning it'll get processed right away; EB-2 category), so if you happen to return to school to get your masters, you can try to get sponsored that way. Your only requirement is to prove no legal resident available to do job, in which case, there will be less competition. Same goes for dreamers who are pursuing physical therapy/occupational therapy I believe.

In any case, congrats again. At least now, no matter what happens, you can go anywhere and have a source of employment.

And if you decide to work privately, get malpractice insurance, so that you're covered. I got mine through NSO by filing out paper form.

Well what if you move down south? say Georgia where there is a very small local hospital that can petition you? I mean would there be less of a competition since no one really rushes to try to get a job there?

Yes, it's much easier to get hired in rural/underserved areas. First step is to find a hospital willing to sponsor. Then the hospital will have to provide evidence showing that they placed an ad for a certain amount of time, but was not able to get any qualified applicants. Hence the decision to sponsor you. Third step is getting approved for visa.

As masters-level nurse will be able to get visa within a few months; an RN will have to wait a few years.

The hospital will have to be willing to wait for you to get approved, considering that you don't get a working permit while you wait, and thus aren't able to legally work.

I should add that the wait time for visas is dependent on your country of birth. You should check the visa bulletin for processing times. For those from China and India, it seems that the visa waiting time for nurses will be even longer. It's also not current for master-level nurses (seems like dreamers from those countries will have to wait about 2 years).

Awwwww man seriously?? A couple of years? Lol its like once I graduate it's one hurdle I got over now I have another one that seems impossible. I mean even If I get the hospital to sponsor me it's gonna be difficult bc wont I have to go. Back to my Country which btw is Philippines and well I'll be banned to come back?
