I think if you join the military with a college degree at hand or some college experience, you start off at a higher ranking than most with only a hs degree. That's my understanding.

That's only for USCs. For us, it takes more than 10 years to become USC under ARMs Act.

That's not true. We're not getting USC 6-12 months after joining the military. That's only for permanent residents and those with valid visas.

For us, it takes more than 10 years, which means we're never going to get USC clearance for higher rank.

Man, as long as I can get in the military and get some sort of paper I'm good.

Just keep in mind we can always marry somebody along the way. That would hopefully reduce the normal ten years it would take with the ARMS Act.

ARMS is a dumbed down version of DA. There's been so many compromise already with the republicans and all they can come up with is get rid of college section. They know that having a college degree allows you to understand the world at a much wider scale.

There is a provision that clearly states "if you join the military, gaining Citizenship is expedited. I m not sure exactly how that provision will mesh with the ARMs ACT though.

But I know what you mean, if it does indeed take 10 years to gain USC...I say fuck it. I don't think Democrats would allow passage of this, even though this would look bad for the democrats as it would portray them as obstructionists. I feel that if this does pass the House, it will have some serious ramifications for the Democrats if they shoot it down in the Senate; especially during an Election Year.

I wonder what Lamar Smith thinks about this. Knowing how much of a prick he is, I will be suprised if he actually takes up the bill and supports it.

Citizenship is eight years.

And Lamar Smith will support it, if only to spite the Democrats when they reject this out-of-hand.

Here is my opinion. and i know many agree with me
The ARMS act is bad, most of you are talking about dropping out of college and joining the military just so you could fall under this (if it passes).
That is the wrong reason to join, you shouldnt just join because you feel like you have to in order to get residency. The ARMS act is gonna do what you are doing <going to make people, who have ZERO interest in joining the military, to join (and possibly get killed) just so they can become a resident?
im sorry but id rather stay undocumented, then join , just to get 'papers'
