Hello, you can't even understand how glad i am i to have found this website. I am now a freshman in college. I came in the US when i was 13 years old from Italy. I attended an American school and i spoke English at home, so the language was never a problem. After 6 years i am still on a permanent visa, which doesn't allow me to work. I am always terrified about my future because of my immigration status. I wasn't able to receive any type of financial aid or scholarship. My family is struggling financially, mostly because of our status.

I consider myself an American and i really wouldn't be able to live anywhere else. I have big dreams for my future, which i might be forced to give up because of some immigration laws. Thankfully, a few months ago my family applied for a green card through a family member who is now a permanent resident. However the process might take years, that my family can't really afford to wait.

I had no idea that this law existed until i found this website. From the stories i read i see that others are in similar situations. I really hope that your problems will solve eventually, since i really understand how it feels like being in this kind of situations, where there is really nothing you can do.

I was also wondering if anyone could tell me what are the chances of the law passing in New York. Is it being debated and discussed? Are there any dates scheduled for a debate in congress?

Hello danielhope,
Is your visa still valid? If you are still in some kind of legal status, a New York Dream Act would not help you because you have to be out-of-status/undocumented. Most Dreamers are either visa overstayers or EWI's (were smuggled across the border by their parents when they were kids).
