Hey guys!

For all of you with some experience in this, how do you approach colleges/universities about your status?

I want to call the admission offices of some schools tomorrow to find out which are willing to give private scholarships to Dreamers, but I'm not quite sure how to approach the subject efficiently and clearly.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Just ask them what their policy towards undocumented students is. It takes like a minute. Which schools?

Usually schools would allow you to set an appointment with an advisor before applying. If that's available to the school you have in mind, then do that and tell the advisor about your status. They should be able to help you out with any questions--admission, scholarships, etc.

If you don't feel comfortable asking them in person, which is honestly is normal. Don't be scare you are no the only one then call and ask.

They usually don't have that many information, if i was you i ll try to research scholarships online.

My high school counselor (I'm convinced that she is an angel that God put in my life) took care of all of that. Whenever schools came to visit, she asked about their policy towards undocumented students. She also emailed several schools. At the end of the day she was successful, because here I am, in this beautiful place that I love so much, on a scholarship awarded to me by the school.

Okay, thanks everyone. I figure calling is easier and faster than e-mailing, but I just wanted to get an idea how to approach the subject.
I'll be calling Whitman, St. Johns College (Annapolis), Allegheny, Berea College - among others - tomorrow.
Suggestions are welcome.

YesWeCan, that is absolutely amazing! I had a useless guidance counselor in High School; wish someone had helped me somehow. Where do you go to school?

I can tell you that Berea College does not accept us. This is from last year though but I doubt they would change because of the donors involved.

Haha. My counselors were useless too, most people are useless when it comes to this, have to do most of it yourself by asking the right people. I am trying to get a research position here and the people just tell me sorry so now gotta ask the professors personally.
