I know exactly what you're talking about concerning this. The UK has so many vary degrees of citizenship w/ certain rights it is mind boggling. The so-called 'Right of Abode' rule as they call it but I had no idea about China !

I thought with the handover that there would be 'Right of Abode' in mainland China for those meeting the BNO requirements considering.........that is F'd up,wow !

The handover has left so many identity issues. We are in a way Chinese but we DO NOT like to be call Chinese. We want people to call us Hongkongers or Hongkongese. And when people ask where are we from, we must say Hong Kong.

Also, in Hong Kong, there are a lot of mainlanders coming to visit and just simply drying up our resources and yet has fueled a lot of hates and opposition from the Hongkongers.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worl...esentment.html

only 16.6% identified themselves first as Chinese citizens.(this group consisted mainly Chinese mainlander immigrants)
