Travel between San Diego to Los Angelas - Page 2

How should you answer question on check point if you have CA driver license?? Btw i m a student.

Tacvbo wht rubbish ? Please i just need simple answer here in San Diego planning to go to LA n will be traveling by GREYHOUND is it safe to go thru this n also wht other mode of travel is available to travel beside Amtrak/air.

well you did get a couple responses its at your own risk and ppl are just trying to warn you, might not be what you wanted to hear but its the truth, while u may get to slip by they are meant to catch undocs, so its a gamble 50-50, if u do go u could post and let ppl know, also i dont know how it is in cali but i did hear about mobile checkpoints, i dont know if they use those between SD LA on top of san clemente or how those work but i did read about them

What Tacvbo is saying is certainly NOT rubbish.It may not be the response you like considering all forms of travel between LA and SD is likely to have some form of CBP interdiction and is definitely true.It doesn't matter whether by car,Amtrak,Greyhound or Flight because San Diego is basically within 75 miles of the US/Mexico border and thus is under CBP's jurisdiction allowing them to ask for your status.

Having a valid driver's license does NOT change the dynamic of you running into CBP considering they ask "Are you a US citizen ?" not "Driver's license and registration ?".If you lie and say "Yes" they CAN check and then it is all over if you say "No" then it is still all over considering they will want to see your documentation as a non-citizen.I actually think flight might be your only option considering San Clemente checkpoint is operational fulltime.

Are there checkpoints going into LA? May be driving into CA from Alabama and I'm not sure if there are checkpoints going there... Would be traveling through I-240W, I-55N, I-40W, and I-15S

more importantly is it really necessary that you go to san diego? it sounds like a trip for fun and if thats the case well you might have a bigger issue over getting your priorities straight, over if its worth that risk to begin with, and no one here's your mom or cares but thats really something you should be able to decide on your own, if you do go good luck but u have to realize its very likely it will be in operation and from there ur just leaving urself to luck, so once again, do you actually have to go cuz im than willing to bet that its just some road trip ud like to take from what this sounds like
