Yea, i'm thinking that....it has the best chance for passing if it only has the fin aid.....sucks though bc id rather have these people pass the work permits....i'll work my ass off for to pay for school....but politicians have their head in their asses and dont think straight.

This is so stupid financial aid costs the state money where as work permit means state incomes from documsnted tax payer. Honestly don't give a crap about .financial aid. I paid through my 4yrs All I need is a work permit.

Financial aid means nothing to me. This act gives the dream act a bad name. Were not looking for financial assistance, we are looking to work towards our future. The world is so ass backwards it's not even funny.

I dont get why they wouldnt keep the drivers license stuff? Screw the financial aid.

What people really lack is identification and work opportunities. What they should do is allow students (even those who graduated from NY high schools, forget this 2 years before bill passed busiess) to have SOME type of work opportunity (even if its crappy) and identification. AT the very least, it should be people who have been here for 6+ years before passage.

That would also not include a lot of people but enough people and exclude those trying to move to NY just to get some benefits.

Also, i still see drivers license, fin aid, work etc... on all of the "edited" versions, can any of you who are saying they took everything off beside financial aid provide links? Thanks.

MDxOD:

http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S4179A-2011
http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S4179B-2011

On either of those two pages, show me where it says the words "driver's license" or "work permit."

It's only in this older version of the bill: http://open.nysenate.gov/legislation/bill/S4179-2011

No driver's license? No work permit? That's sucks big time. This bill cannot be even called Dream act. Some financial aid, big deal. Dreamers worked their asses off to pay for tuition, many still doing it, and many will do it. Political game to call some bill NY Dream Act to get votes but give nothing.

I lost hope in dream act.
I don't need fucking financial aid. no dreamer needs this bs if we can just work. I work at a research lab and I could get pay $3000 - $5000 per semester.

Why? These people never understand....

If driver license is such a big deal, look at FA. You are giving money away. Government is short of money. Why the fuck would they pay us? Last time I heard they are trying to setup a dream fund, which is completely bullshit too, so maybe 5 years after the act has passed, no one can fucking get the money either. That's what happening in Illonios.

I was thinking the same thing.

Why did Illinois Dream Act even have to go through state government when the funding is PRIVATE. There is absolutely no tax money associated with this funding.. it's a scholarship made by donations and being given out to dreamers, something that would exist with or without governmental help.

A dreamer would probably be lucky if he can $500 out of it.. a week's paycheck..

And the politicians passed this meaningless bill and made themselves look like they have made some extravagant contribution for Dream Act but it was literally nothing.
