I forgot the exact percentage, but over 60% of jobs are not advertised. Most jobs are filled through connections.

This is why I always tell Dreamers that I know and organize with that NETWORKING is the tool they need to work on as much as possible.

Attend conferences and workshops on networking.

Not only that, but get to know your professors, mentors, counselors, school administrations/staff, and any individuals/groups you feel can have a positive impact in your life.

Become like a sponge, and absorb all the resources out there. There are so many missed opportunities by Dreamers simply because they do not network enough!

Rainysky try applying for fast food restaurants, I know of many undocumented ppl working in places like that. Also, try work agencies for manual labor , a lot of them do not check papers . I had success in places like that.

can you clarify your situation more? alot of it still doesn't make sense also are you going into a community college or university? what exactly are your expenses outside of tuitions do you run a checkbook or budget and look for how to balance? you could go from there to running a surplus from cutting off things you really dont need, also, if that is the case, why dont you take a semester off and try to stabilize your life situation first of all? you said it sounded like i was judging you and well yo udid ask for opinions, so what this struck me off as was that 1 it could be one of many troll accounts weve had here bc weve had a few (i remember some guy jimmy, another guy boasting of getting a dreamer in trouble last month and a bunch others i cant remember) so it would help if you could go into more detail if your posting about a situation thats so extreme, also i think at first ur making bad choices, but 2nd, if you know the people that isnt so bad actually alot of regular girls i could guess do something similar, maybe not straight up for money but it sure wont be free to spend some time with them so if thats the case well ur just saving the guy wine and dine money and keeping it for yourself, not too bad, but be careful with strangers is all im saying, also, would it be that hard then to get a bf who took you in? i mean if ur able to pull in a couple guys for sex how hard would that be, but heres the big issue, how old are you and how is it that you dont have any job 'hook ups' any friends or such, informal jobs are hard but not that uncommon, babysitting for one, pet grooming, hell cleaning someones house or like i said, doing things for your sisters which they dont want to do, your friends, their friends,

also im curious how did you just go from being so shy to ending up in something thats the total opposite of being shy, i would think you would atleast have to be a bit asserting if you're charging money for sex atleast at the pay up part cuz im pretty sure most guys would want to weasel out so can you blame me for thinking thats pretty weird? you're doing that sort of not shy stuff to pay for school, you paint a very desperate picture but then seem to be pretty carefree about it, especially about contracting stds.

Heres my opinion, and its up to you if you care or brush off cuz you dont like what i say, i think you should really get your life in order in the first place and get your priorities straight. 1, you cant even get a job right now without the SS, not blaming you, but so then why would you pay college if you probably wouldnt be able to get a career job if you can't even get a simple on right now right? why the big deal about college when you obviously should have other priorities like your basic needs and then trying to have some stability, the same way you found this site you can find anything else online, even if to get into school later, you can learn all maths, calculus, histories, reading, philosophy, psych, hell even stanfords giving away free full semester classes online just without any credits, but especially maths would help out alot when you might have some better stability, have you imagined if someone blackmailed you for your status into giving them free sex?
2, why dont you try reaching out to others its much easier to break shyness than get into darker things, im surprised you dont have friends to atleast help you out, but it would be easier to do this without worrying about classes than having your hands full, it wont be instant but you gotta start somewhere
3, if you're in a desperate situation, would you even be able to do the 4 years of a basic bachelors including the tough 2 upper years? most ppl don't grauate for whatever reason and if you did that, well youre still in the same place but lost the money and time, and even then a college diploma wont guarantee anything, plenty of people are successful without having college, plenty are also unemployed and with degrees, but you can learn about anything online, and also info to best help yourself, but college at this point doesnt seem like the best of ideas, even a semester to get your business settled is not a bad thing, or summer thats coming up, good luck if you stick it out with classes but a degree isnt everything or a solve all pill for problems you might have right now

First of all are you even a Dreamer? Because you sound like the average USC who assumes I did this for shits and giggles and who thinks there is no point in me going to school anyway because I cant do anything with a degree. Which is not true. Anyway, I will answer some questions. And I really am not the only undocumented person doing this I know of 3 others and that's saying a lot considering I don't know much girls.

I was tired of looking for a job for a year with no luck. I went to an online high school plus the shyness is why I have no friends for "hookups" (no pun intended) and the few that I do have are in industries where they would run an extensive check.

I have been housecleaning since a young age with my mom but 50 dollars when I get lucky enough to land said gig is not enough. Dog grooming, babysitting are all things I have thought of before but have not been able to find work there.

As much as I hate it I decided to do the whole sugar daddy thing because I could not spend another day at home doing nothing. Yes I am shy and it makes what I do harder but almost anyone who does what I do will tell you its 99% acting and1% appearance. You have to take on a whole new persona, most don't even use their real names. There is no soliciting for money straight up there is more tact involved. Because of the law people use words like "donation" or "some help". The men are older and know that a relationship between a 20 and 50 year old will have money involved, common sense. Yes its disgusting, I know your probably thinking that. And I am not "carefree" about getting stds but its all about how you "play the game" Some people my age go to the club and sleep around. I am with the same 2 guys for almost a year. They might be seeing other people but the point is that I am not and always use protection. Its a calculated risk. As far as "have you imagined if someone blackmailed you for your status into giving them free sex?"That would be breaking the first cardinal rule: "a trick is a trick nothing more". So why would I trust a trick with something that I don't even trust my closest friends with? You have to have street smarts/common sense.

I am constantly looking for other jobs while I do this (even coming here to ask what other people are doing) I am always on my hustle, I think anyone who is a dreamer can relate to that. Always looking for gigs the only up side to what I do is that these gigs are more constant.

What I hate even more than what I do is what you think I should do "get your life in order". I wish I could drop 6k on a lawyer or invest 250k on a business and get papers. And I do not want a boyfriend to "take me in" relationships can fail and then what? Also, I do not want a boyfriend only because he has a house or place or job. Making money is how I am putting my life in order. I am not doing a 4yr I am going into a certificate/2yr program. The certificate will teach me a skill to be an independent contractor (no ssn involved) in a high demand field where I live and a few extra courses ontop of that will make it a 2yr degree (no necessary but nice). So yes, I can and will use my certificate/degree.

I do not want to glamorize any of what I am doing but it has helped me so far no matter how much I don't like it. Everyone has said to network, I will try harder and look more into restaurant jobs. Anything consistent would be better than what I do even if it doesn't pay the same

One of them works at a well known organic grocery chain (for some reason I am hesitant to say the name) and the other works at the mall. My sister said they didn't even run a background check for the mall! Am I making this too difficult? I am looking everyday but I am losing hope after my experiences, it is so depressing to go through an interview, get picked, go through orientation and even in one case work for a couple weeks; only to get the news of the ssn mismatch. I am not proud to admit this but I have resorted to selling my body but even then the money is not as great as you would think at least not for me. There is upfront costs and the added paranoia of getting outed but I literally have no income coming in. How are you guys making $$?
I'm making almost 15 an hour...teaching in Mexico. But there are ways to work in the US as an independent contractor. If you want, I posted jobs in OpenEnglish.com that are paying nearly that amount for you to work in your home..plus you don't have to worry about commuting costs, eating out, shopping for work clothes, and can save money eating in home. It involves teaching, which some of you may or may not like.
