So I have a quick question, when they check for your ID when traveling inside the US do they scan it or they just look at? What exactly do they do with the ID?

You need to be more specific about what you are asking,are you talking about CBP or TSA ?

With TSA,it is simply to check that your details match with the airline ticket in question and that you're not barred from flying.

With the TSA, so they just look at it and compare it to the ticket and do no background check in their computer?

Does the TSA just look at the ID and compare it to your plane ticket ? So they don't scan it or check it in the computer? They just compare it?

That's what they do. They don't have computers when they first check. Just a light checking if ID is valid or not. I've flown from Phoenix to Orlando, FL and back and also to San Francisco using just my valid Mexican passport.

How do they know if your ID I valid or not?

I mean real/valid, not fake...

And how would you know if it was fake or not?

How does a TSA official know if your ID is fake or not?

I definately don't work for TSA, and everyone is not fit to do so. But I do assume they receive training to check. You would be pretty dumb to fly with fake i.d....
