Utah lawmakers passed a package of immigration bills last year, including HB 497 and another bill that will allow illegal immigrants to live and work in the state if they haven't committed other crimes, have steady employment and pay taxes. That law takes effect in 2013 and the state is working with federal officials in an attempt to secure a waiver.

??? is there a chance in Utah next year?

Don't do it. I think they repealed it. I went there, it sucked really bad even though I got a job working in my field... I got paid $2,500 but left after one month. Used all that money for the plane ticket home and now I'm doing much, much better. The pay for my current job is less than $500, and my whole family makes about $1300 per month, but the cost of living is much lower and I'm actually working in my field. Being here allows me to actually save a ton of money for me to buy video equipment to start my media freelancing career. I met a lot of Westerners here who CHOSE to leave America and become expats... It's really not that bad once you're out.

Anyway, if you can, you should move back to your country and forget America. It's hard convincing yourself to do that at first but once you take that extreme leap of faith, it turns out well. If your home country isn't that bad and you can speak the language well, you'll get a job in no time. It's better than having my degree rot away in America. I really thought I was going to kill myself and be all depressed, but all those feelings were left back in America and I don't feel any sadness when I'm back here.

It's really, really hard to get to this point but if you weigh your risks carefully, it could turn out to be a lot better than waiting for the Dream Act. Dream is NEVER going to pass if you look at the votes last time. We would've had it if the Republicans who voted "yea" didn't change their votes to "nay..." Past supporters pulled their support on the bill when they know it can pass. What gives? That's what fueled me to leave and I didn't regret my choice. (it's been 6 months)
