how did you get the scholarship? did the school offer it to you before you moved back to PI? is it super competitive? how much is your tuition per year if you don't mind me asking? do you live on campus?

um I think I've answered most of those on my thread. Living on campus is a bit expensive but like any college town there are nearby "cheaper" alternatives.

No, I meant maintaining legal status. I was a minor then but due my parents employer who messed up on our paper work I was left w/o status and did not know it We were always misled that it was in process or some other excuses. I could not get on to any status after that coz my parents H1b was denied and the company also folded. All came at a time when enforcement was high. I was F2 last never made it to H4.

You could always e-mail the Canadian consulate serving your birth country. It seems you do have some type of legal temporary status. I wouldn't really know if you can apply from the states.

I do not have any status as we applied for h4 along with my parents h1b extension but that was denied, based on H1b denial, the appeal was denied... and I was was given notice that I do not have status. All this when I turned 18. I was in status before that

I dont know how the consulates (canadian ) work in LA but my lawyer is willing to write me a letter to support my app from within the US. Is that risky. If I leave and am denied in my home country theres no way to get back.

The biggest risk is not coming back to the USA. I don't know if the lawyer's letter will help, but you won't know till you try! I think I've heard of someone writing something while submitting their canadian study permit app to a US based office based on "humanitarian grounds, good citizenship..." They ended up having to go back to their home country to apply anyways.

Grumpy, thanks for sharing it was very informative.

Has anyone gotten a job in Canada? i.e sponsored by a company. I applied to some jobs but haven't been contacted. I'm really getting tired of this

I know of international students taking up masters degrees in engineering and then looking for job afterwards. Might be an option if you're willing/financially able to go back to school.
