Wow, it's amusing to these these delusional kids thinking they're gonna do something to the cartels. Think you're a tough guy go down to Mexico and take them out yourself, just don't go losing your head. lmfao

I wounder if the language of this bill regarding the whole adjustment of status conflict with current laws regarding citizenship through military service.

Example:
All immigrants who have served honorably on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces or as a member of the Selected Ready Reserve on or after September 11, 2001 are eligible to file for immediate citizenship under the special wartime provisions in Section 329 of the INA. This section also covers veterans of designated past wars and conflicts.

So can't we just file for USC after joining the military?

Also, not sure if many people know about this........got it from the USCIS website

Naturalization at Basic Training

USCIS and the Army established the Naturalization at Basic Training Initiative in August 2009 to give noncitizen enlistees the opportunity to naturalize when they graduate from basic training. (The Navy joined the initiative in 2010.) Under this initiative, USCIS conducts all naturalization processing including the capture of biometrics, the naturalization interview, and administration of the Oath of Allegiance on the military base so (in most cases) the recruit is able to graduate from basic training as a U.S. citizen.

It does. Also, you can adjust to another non-immigrant status in the meanwhile. Or if you qualify through an immigration petition, to green card status. Going 10 years for permanent residency through ARMS is basically "I have absolutely no other way of coming to this country otherwise, even if I'm (now) here legally."

Ok... now that I'm up to par. (I've been MIA for awhile)

I like the concept of the bill but are we willing to settle for anything?

I'm sure some DREAMers are already desperate as it is. I don't think we're getting any younger and if it passes-- I'll be happy for those who want to join the military.

Challenging the DREAM Act’s criteria seemed to be one hot topic, for it was constantly discussed whether or not a narrower window should be amended to this bill than that of which exists. Senator Durbin addressed a proposal previously mentioned of amending the bill to a “military only DREAM Act,” in which only those willing to join the military and able to meet all the other mentioned requirements will be eligible for applying to legalize their status. Witness, Dr. Clifford Stanley, Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness in the US Department of Defense, and also a supporter of the DREAM Act, responded by emphasizing the importance of having a pool of requirements and decision-factors in order to avoid discrimination and the violation of volunteered military. A military only DREAM Act will discriminate against those who do not meet military requirements such as physical health and capability, which may not be under an individual’s control who suffers from incapacities. Besides discrimination against those with health issues, this version of the DREAM Act will create a forced incentive for those who are in need and desire of becoming an American to enlist in the military, even if the military had never been an option for their future. Military enlistment has always been on a voluntarily merit in which brave men and women willingly decide to face dangers, but great is also the desire for education for many of these “DREAMers,” greater than the fear of death.

This was at a Dream Act hearing last year.

That really sucks. So, if Republicans are on board with the ARMS Act, I think it is safe to say that Senator Reid will use the ARMS Act as a diaper.

I really hope Obama gets re-elected. If Romney wins, I guess the only possible relief would be a military only DREAM Act.

I really hope this passes. Military already had been my option for the past year or so.
I want to get my degrees (B.A.s) and join as an officer; I was highly considering joining AFROTC while I'm getting my degrees and get contracted, but when I met with the ROTC recruiter he said I won't be able to be "contracted" since I'm undocumented. It really sucks cause I actually want to join the Air Force, since they have jobs that would utilize a Criminal Justice degree (and possibly Psychology degree), not to mention military experience is a HUGEplus in the Criminal Justice field..
I'm really hoping that officer entry would be an option...

The Democrats need to smart up and just attach a STEM degree to this thing, along with heavy border security. We need to start writing to them to do this. There you go, you have your Dream Act right there under the name "ARMS Act." Stupid politicians only care about their own agenda.
