Quick Overview:
  • I'm 19
  • Mexican Citizen
  • 4.0 College GPA
  • Majoring in Computer Science
  • Parents make about 120K/ Year
  • My parents are willing to finance my education till my Master's Degree

I live in GA and because of a new law that will bar all illegal students from all public colleges I will be forced to move to another state. Probably Washington.

It all sounds good and all but I have no idea what I'm going to do after school. My parents say that if I go back to Mexico, people will notice that I'm not from around there and I could run into trouble. In contrast, I don't want to stay in the U.S; the thought of not being able to advance my career terrifies me. Where do I go from there? Do I go back to Mexico and hope I can immigrate to another country ( Canada/Australia) ? Do I stay in the U.S and save up money for a PhD, while I age and wait for self-absorbed bureaucrats to maybe make the right choice?

Your parents are full of it. I went back to Mexico, and I have been treated with lots of respect. The country has changed since they left it.

How about going back to Mexico right now and apply to a school in Canada or Australia on student visa? because I'm pretty sure your parents can afford that with 120k?

and upon graduation, you can apply for a job in Canada or Australia.

Maybe you'll be lucky enough to run into a nice girl and adjust your status :P

What the hell? Your parents make over 120K per year? You're a lucky kid. Btw, i'm also going to major in Computer Science bro. Also, people worldwide mostly respect degrees/education from a country like the USA. You'll have an edge in job hunting. Your parents are wrong in thinking you'll be in trouble for being a bit different. Superb fluency in english is yet another edge you'll have.

"Parents make about 120K/ Year"

Are your parents legal residents?
Get your education from the here. US degrees are the gold standard.

Also, by the time you are done with your Master's degree, there is a good chance some form of immigration reform will have passed.

If you don't mind going away from college, message me. I was in your exact situation, and I can help you out. If you're scared of living on your own, I'm not sure I can help, but if you're willing to go away from home, message me.
