I love physics.......astrophysics in particular is just simply mind-boggling. I watch a lot of History Channel documentaries on this stuff...lol.

Liberal Arts degree holders are the people in the occupy movement who think that college is useless when the only thing that is useless is their "career" choice.

So, overall, engineering or computer science degree is probably the best choice for you overall.
God, I hate how much you guys emphasize "US Degree" as if it's really worth more. Unless you went to a recognized university, it's not any different than a degree you would get in your home country (unless the home country universities are REALLY bad). I live in Mexico, and not once have I seen an importance given to a degree JUST because it's from the USA.

This is biggest bullshit being fed on this site.

Sorry, if I offended someone, but we need to quit feeding each other false information, it doesn't help anyone.

Go to south america, see how much your American degree is worth there. Besides the degree, it's an indication of you speaking fluent english. And most of the universities there don't even offer Ph.D. degrees, and one from US usually does, which indicates that you were probably thought by better instructors.

On top of that, many top instructors immigrate to be professors in US universities, which sucks for me because I can't understand a word they say, but regardless they know their stuff.

Dude, you have no idea what you are talking about. I have come across numerous job opportunities in my field. Give me a fucking work permit, and I'll fucking show you what's up.

True story: one of my classmates graduated with a B.A. in PSCI and landed a local government job right after graduation. Another guy I know graduated with a BS in CS. Dude has not found a job yet (for over a fucking year!). My favorite story: the guy who leased us a house has a BS in geology. The guy is changing adult diapers as a caregiver. :- )

The point: it depends on the productivity of the individual with the degree. GIVE ME A FUCKING WORK PERMIT, AND I WILL PROVE YOU FUCKING WRONG.

Whoa! So being underpaid by the government is now success right?!?!!

Oh, and does your CS friend know how to program at all? You actually have to know what the hell you are doing to get a job with a CS degree. They have some of the smartest people in the world after Physicists working in the CS work force.

Ah, the English part is understandable. South America has a lot very bad universities, which is why the US degree may seem more valuable just because it's from the US. Brazil, Chile, and Argentina are exceptions.

Dude, there are smart people in all fields and plus this discussion is so irrational. People major in what they excel at, ever heard of the multiple intelligences model of cognitive thought? You can't make most political scientists computer scientists, and you can't make most computer scientists political scientists? Both fields of thoughts(humanities and sciences) are responsible for the glory of the modern world, let us respect them both then as vibrant branches of knowledge in there own right. And I say this as an aerospace engineer who d spite loving how to make planes finds poli sci way more reflective and vibrant.

I don't know about your country but where I'm from, they go by the school rankings... And US colleges are on the top of the list..

At some point in the history the college became a brand name instead of what you actually learn, thus majoring in basket weaving in Harvard > majoring in astronomical physics in whatever state school..

But nevertheless I get your point and agree.
