Dam! It seems like everybody and their mother in Congress is jumping on board with Rubio's Dream Act. WOW! Republicans that I never thought would show any public support are starting to pop out everywhere. I don't give a FUCK what anybody says...THE DREAM ACT IS GOING TO PASS. That's just what I think, like it or not, that's your business. Holla.

If it will help you to adjust your status and you meet the requirements, look deeper into it and go for it. I wish you nothing but the best and GOOD LUCK!

I don't support this at all: Scrapping the diversity lottery? I know a ton of great and good people who managed to get into America only because of that. People from war torn nations such as Somalia or dying countries like Yemen who came here with nothing and once they got here even sent their sons and daughters to Harvard. Must America only favor the well educated and wealthy of the world now? Whatever happened to being the haven of all people yearning to breathe free? I'd also remind most dreamers, we were more similar to diversity lottery winners when we arrived here then fully fleshed out stem graduates with financial backing from parents or governments abroad.

I'm for dreamer rights, but not at the trampling of the rights of other immigrants and aspirants to the American lifestyle and nation. Plus I read a similar article about this before, supposedly it wouldn't allow "undocumented" youth to access it. So unless I hear some compromise regarding the diversity lottery, I am firmly against this bill, but then again in this political climate it likely wouldn't work well with Democrats anyway.

But I have to say I at least somewhat admire this dude, at least his bill is out, unlike Rubio who drones on and on about his bill.

I agree with you. Elimination of the lottery system and allocating these visas to only the brightest has the eerie stench of creeping Social Darwinism. It's as un-american as it can be! A day laborer immigrant's son or a struggling janitor's daughter can become the next president. That's what America is all about and it should remain that way.

And notice that the bill qualifies STEM graduates only from "research" universities which tend to be competitive to get in.
It does not discuss the ban/waiver.

Don't get hyped over this guys. Unless there's a provision in there pardoning EWI and overstay for applicants you won't qualify unless you're covered under 245i.

Yeah, I figured the same thing. This would be very good to be true.
They should really let people with graduate degree in our situation adjust.
sigh, lets hope this Rubio things comes out soon so that we can finally see if it has a chance of passing or not. I am not loosing hope, if it is not this year. I think we have made much progress in terms of being heard of.

Ehhh, the thing about the DV is that you needed to have some sort of job skill + education to qualify for it. It was a way to attract educated people from other countries, but now they're realizing that we have plenty of educated people here in the US that we're forcing to return to their homelands.

We have the education level of a third world country, not in terms of research, but in terms of education of regular citizens. Hence why the republican party exists.
