I've been to San Luis, I prefer Queretaro and Puebla. The infrastructure was much better in Queretaro, plus both have quick access to Mexico City. I thought San Luis looked extremely crowded, but then so does most of Mexico City.

I'm from Lagos, Nigeria. I'm going to give myself some years here: earn a Bachelor in something and try for either med school or Masters.

The country is third world and I'm not moving back without some assurance of employment. Security, electricity, disregard for law and order...I might as well just stay here or try for Ghana/Canada/elsewhere.

1. I’d likely get killed in Kingston. Or locked in a luny bin. One can only lie so long about certain things.
2. Crime rates.
3. All ‘dem drug fights.

@freshh. - If you end up going back, let me know how it works outs.

I've a similar plan as Skye. Try for somewhere else, rather than go back.

I spent the week looking into it and my mother is adamantly against my sister and I going back. She knows that we'd be targets because we don't sound Jamaican. Not to mention we're girls. The police claim that crime is down, but that's not what I'm hearing from my relatives.

So, I'm going to try Canada and Australia from here, too before deciding to go to Jamaica. The only problem is the amount of money I have to prove I have to go to both countries.

I just need to hang on a little longer, just this year so I can get my MS degree, and then I guess I wouldn't mind that much moving.

Oh com on mon, a jamaican accent is easy if you practice it, I can do it and I'm not even jamaican. Just listen to people do it and mimic the words.

I wish it were that easy. I've spent the last 18 years living in Georgia. So, you can imagine how I sound.

It isn't only about the accent. Don’t know Creole? Can’t pass as Jamaican.

Part of the problem with Jamaica’s crime rate is a lot of it is committed by law enforcement. Also many hate crimes there are not considered a crime.

I'd go back to Mexico until I could legally immigrate to an English speaking country. I'm not dumb, but I don't want to struggle with a language barrier, and Mexico is corrupt. Do you know what the HDI is in Guadalajara? My family is from there.

I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy... Sorry all this talk about Jamaican crime brought that Marley song to mind.
